Patriot League Football Corvias Players of the Week Announced (10.24.16)

Bragalone, Ham, Mish and Freshnock earn weekly honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore running back Dom Bragalone rushed for a career-high 182 yards, while helping the Mountain Hawks score 46-consecutive points to defeat Holy Cross on Saturday, helping him earn his first Corvias Offensive Player of the Week nod of the season. Fordham junior defensive back Caleb Ham intercepted two passes, including one that set up the Rams’ game-winning field goal, giving him his first Corvias Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career.
 
Lehigh sophomore kicker/punter Ed Mish wins his third Corvias Special Teams Player of the Week honor of the season and second in a row after finishing with eight points, two punts inside the 20-yard line and three touchbacks in the Mountain Hawks’ victory. Bucknell freshman running back Chad Freshnock rushed for two fourth quarter touchdowns to help the Bison pull away from Lafayette, also helping him pull away in the Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week voting.
 
Fordham junior running back Chase Edmonds was held scoreless, but rushed for 179 yards, breaking Fordham’s all-time rushing record and putting the offense in position to kick a game-winning field goal in the fourth quarter to earn honorable mention status. Bucknell’s Abdullah Anderson tied a career-high with eight tackles and set a career-high with 2.0 sacks in a win over Lafayette on Sunday. Georgetown’s sophomore cornerback Ramon Lyons earned weekly honorable mention for the first time with nine tackles and 3.0 TFL. Lyons’ teammate, freshman defensive end Khristian Tate earns his first weekly honorable mention after making seven tackles, 1.5 TFL and blocking a punt for the second consecutive week.
 
Corvias Offensive Player of the Week
Dom Bragalone, Lehigh, So., RB, 5-11, 215, South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport
Bragalone rushed for a career-high 182 yards on 17 carries, while scoring two touchdowns during the Mountain Hawks’ 46-0 run against Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year averaged 10.7 yards per carry, while scoring on a career-long 66-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. For Bragalone, the effort was his eighth 100-yard game of his career.

Caleb Ham, Fordham, Jr., DB, 6-1, 192, McDonough, Ga./Union Grove

Corvias Special Teams Player of the Week
Ed Mish, Lehigh, So., K/P, 5-10, 200, Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge
Mish earns his second consecutive Special Teams Player of the Week, going 5-for-5 on extra points, 1-for-2 on field goals, averaging 45.5 yards per punt on six attempts and 62.6 yards per kickoff on eight attempts. Mish connected on a 34-yard field goal and made all five PAT’s for eight points. He also had two punts inside the opposing 20-yard line and three touchbacks. He has 20 touchbacks on 54 kickoffs this season.
 
Corvias Rookie Player of the Week
Chad Freshnock, Bucknell, Fr., RB, Middletown, N.J./Middletown North
Freshnock earns his second Patriot League Rookie of the Week after scoring two fourth quarter touchdowns to help Bucknell pull away from Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. The freshman rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries, while scoring two touchdowns for the second consecutive week. Freshnock helped the Bison rush for 259 yards, its highest team total since 2013.
 
WEEKLY HONORABLE MENTION
Chase Edmonds, Fordham, Jr., RB, 5-9, 205, Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East
Edmonds finished with 179 yards on a season-high 37 carries, while becoming Fordham’s all-time leading rusher during the third quarter of Saturday’s game. Edmonds is now fourth in Patriot League history in career rushing yards.
 
Ramon Lyons, Georgetown, So., CB, 5-9, 180, Orlando, Fla./Ocoee
Lyons made nine tackles, including 3.0 tackles for loss as Georgetown’s defense held Fordham to 17 points, the Rams second-lowest scoring output of the season.
 
Abdullah Anderson, Bucknell, Sr., DL, 6-4, 295, Galloway, N.J./Absegami
Anderson tied a career-high eight tackles, including 2.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks in Bucknell’s win over Lafayette on Saturday. The 2.0 sacks ties a career-high for Anderson, who was part of a defensive effort that limited the Leopards to just 268 yards of total offense.
 
Khristian Tate, Georgetown, Fr., DL, 6-0, 260, Warner Robins, Ga./Covenant Academy
Tate finished with seven tackles, 1.5 TFL and one blocked punt in the Hoyas’ loss to Fordham on Saturday. Tate’s second quarter blocked punt led to a GU touchdown. It was his second blocked punt in two weeks. He also made a tackle on a fourth-and-goal situation for Fordham to keep the game tied early in the fourth quarter.
