Patriot League Announces Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League announced its weekly awards for March 21-27 in women's lacrosse, baseball, softball, tennis and track and field on Monday.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
LAUREN GORAJEK, COLGATE Sr., A, Hightstown, N.J.
Gorajek tallied four goals, including the game-winner, as Colgate improved to 2-0 in the Patriot League with a 13-11 victory at Lafayette on Saturday. She also registered season highs with seven shots and three draw controls in addition to the four goals. Three of her four goals came in the second half as Colgate tallied nine goals after intermission to pull out the win.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
GRETCHEN RICHTER, BUCKNELL So., M, Bronxville, N.Y.
Richter had a huge effort with six goals, two assists, nine draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 19-9 win over Army West Point on Saturday. Four of her season-high nine draw controls came in the opening minutes as Bucknell started the contest on a 9-0 run, and three of her career-high six goals were in succession after Army had closed the margin to 11-5.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MOLLY WOLF, LOYOLA MARYLAND Sr., GK, Baltimore, Md.
Wolf continued her outstanding play by making 14 saves in a 10-6 win over Boston University on Saturday as Loyola improved to 3-0 in the Patriot League. The 14 saves tied a career high and marked her 20th double-figure save effort overall and fifth this season. Wolf stopped nine shots in the first half to help the Greyhounds build a 5-4 lead and made five saves in the second half while allowing only a pair of free-position goals. Wolf also made four saves in a 12-9 win at Georgetown on Tuesday, and totaled a combined six ground balls and three caused turnovers in the two contests.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
HANNAH POWERS, LOYOLA MARYLAND Fr., A, Skaneateles, N.Y.
Powers led Loyola to a 12-9 win at Georgetown on Tuesday by recording four goals and two assists, then tallied two goals as the Greyhounds got a Patriot League win with a 10-6 triumph at Boston University on Saturday. She led all players in scoring in the win at Georgetown with her first career hat trick, scoring the four goals during a 6-0 closing run as Loyola overcame a 4-3 deficit. Powers leads Loyola with 13 assists for the season and is second on the squad with 27 points.

ALLISON LABEAU, LEHIGH Jr., A, Millstone, N.J.
LaBeau recorded three goals and two assists to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 10-6 win over American on Saturday.

MADDY BLAKEMAN, LOYOLA MARYLAND Sr., A, Vero Beach, Fla.
Blakeman tallied four points in each of Loyola's two victories last week, combining for five goals and three assists in the road wins over Georgetown and Boston University.

HALEY O'HANLON, COLGATE So., M, Garden City, N.Y.
O'Hanlon had three goals, seven draw controls and five ground balls in Colgate's 13-11 win at Lafayette on Saturday.

ALLY ADAMS, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., M, Severna Park, Md.
Adams scored four goals in a 14-13 win over Vanderbilt on Tuesday, including the gamewinner with 16 seconds to play.

MADDY LESHER, LOYOLA MARYLAND Sr., D, Gladwyne, Pa.
Lesher recorded a combined nine ground balls and four caused turnovers in Loyola's victories over Georgetown and Boston University, with a career-high six ground balls in the win over the Terriers.

TAYLOR TVEDT, LEHIGH Jr., GK, Apple Valley, Minn.
Tvedt notched 10 saves, including seven in the second half, in Lehigh's 10-6 victory over American.

JAMIE DEWITT, BUCKNELL Fr., GK, Basking Ridge, N.J.
DeWitt notched 12 saves to lead Bucknell to a 19-9 win over Army West Point on Saturday.

ANNA RAYMOND, LAFAYETTE So. GK, Mahopac, N.Y.
Raymond had a career-high 16 saves to keep Lafayette close in a 13-11 loss to Colgate on Saturday.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MICHAEL CONIGLIO, LAFAYETTE Sr., OF, Ridgewood, N.J.
Coniglio went 13-for-32 (.406) with eight runs scored, four RBIs, two doubles and a triple as Lafayette played seven contests last week. He had multiple-hit efforts in five of the seven games, and scored at least one run in six contests. Coniglio was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in an 8-7 loss to USC Upstate on Monday, and later had a string of four-straight games with multiple hits where he was a combined 10-of-18 at the plate with five runs scored and four RBIs. Coniglio went 8-for-14 with three runs scored and three RBIs to help Lafayette win two of the first three contests in a four-game set with Penn over the weekend, with a game-winning two-run double for a 5-4 victory in Sunday's opener. Coniglio also stole four bases and leads the Patriot League with 11 steals on the season without being caught once.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
GEORGE COUGHLIN, NAVY Jr., P, Arvada, Colo.
Coughlin threw seven shutout innings with just three hits and a walk allowed and nine strikeouts to lead Navy to a 7-0 win over Princeton to complete a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Coughlin picked up his second combined shutout of the season and tied a season high with the nine strikeouts while allowing only one runner to reach third base.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
JACK GRABEK, BUCKNELL Fr., P, Guilderland, N.Y.
Grabek threw 8.1 shutout innings while giving up just three hits and a walk with six strikeouts to lead Bucknell to a 5-0 win over Yale on Sunday that split the four-game series between the squads. He combined for the first shutout of the season for the Bison while registering a season high in strikeouts. Grabek has allowed one or fewer earned runs in six of his seven appearances this season. He pitched 12.1 innings total last week, allowing three runs on six hits and five walks with nine strikeouts.

DAVID BEDNAR, LAFAYETTE Jr., P, Valencia, Pa.
Bednar pitched a seven-inning complete game and allowed just one run on three hits and three walks with a career-high tying 11 strikeouts in a 3-1 win over Penn on Saturday.

JACEN NALESNIK, LEHIGH Jr., OF, Lehighton, Pa.
Nalesnik went 6-for-19 (.316) with a home run, five RBIs and four runs scored in five games for the Mountain Hawks last week.

BRETT SMITH, BUCKNELL Jr., OF, Hanover, Pa.
Smith batted .333 (7-for-21) with three triples, five runs scored and two RBIs in five games last week.

CORVIAS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JESSICA CALVINI, LEHIGH Sr., 1B, Mamaroneck, N.Y.
After an early season slump, Calvini hit safely in all five of the Mountain Hawks' games this week, going 7-for-18. The senior knocked in a total of five RBI and recorded four doubles and a triple, while also scoring one run in each of the contests. After hitting an RBI single against the Leopards in the fourth inning of the second game, she scored the tying run of Lehigh's eventual 5-4 victory. Down in the third game of the series, Calvini hit a two-run double in the fourth inning that sparked the team to capture a third win a series sweep.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
CHRISTINE CAMPBELL, LEHIGH Jr., P, San Diego, Calif.
Campbell collected a trio of wins over the week and helped the Mountain Hawks to a series sweep of crosstown rival Lafayette over the weekend. The junior tossed a total of 17.2 innings across four appearances against Saint Joseph's and the Leopards, allowing just five earned runs for a 1.98 ERA. She won both games she started in the circle and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the first game with Lafayette, finishing that game with one run and three hits. Campbell came in with one out and runners at first and third in the second game against the Leopards and allowed an infield single to the first batter before retiring the next 11 of scoreless relief.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
TAYLOR WAHLER, HOLY CROSS Fr., SS, Inman, S.C.
After going 3-for-5 at the plate across two games against Siena, Wahler had an outstanding performance at the plate for Holy Cross in the Crusaders' Patriot League series-opener at Bucknell, hitting .727 (8-for-11) and slugging 1.273, and drove in a total of four runners. In addition, four of the freshman's eight hits against the Bison went for extra bases -- two doubles, two triples. In the final game of the series with Bucknell, Wahler knocked in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh for the Holy Cross 5-4 victory.

HONORABLE MENTION
KASEY MCCRAVEY, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., INF., Scottsdale, Ariz.
McCravey helped the Black Knights to a win over Fairfield as well as a three-game series sweep of Boston University to open the Patriot League season, hitting safely in all four games and scoring four runs. The senior also tallied her second home run of the season against the Stags.

MEGHAN KOVAC, BUCKNELL So., 1B/3B, Warren, N.J.
Kovac went 5-for-9 with a double, home run, and four RBI as the Bison went 2-1 against Holy Cross to open the Patriot League season. The sophomore hit her third home run of the season in the second game against the Crusaders, tying the score in the fourth inning before Bucknell went on to win 5-1.

RENEE POIRIER, ARMY WEST POINT Fr., P., Plainville, Mass.
Poirier added three more saves to bring her season total to seven, breaking the program's single-season saves record at the Academy. She helped the Black Knights to three wins, pitching the closing inning against Fairfield and against Boston University -- twice.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
BRENDAN JOHNSON, AMERICAN Jr., Waldorf, Md.
Johnson finished 17th in a loaded field in the 10,000-meter run at the Raleigh Relays, with his time of 29:41.51 easily surpassing the qualifying standard. It was the second-fastest time in program history and placed Johnson 25 seconds ahead of the next-closest Patriot League runner in the field.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JESS BRIDLE, BUCKNELL Sr., Tewksbury, Mass.
Bridle won the 200-meter dash at the Jim Taylor Invite with a time of 24.70, which was the third-fastest in program history and the second-best mark in the Patriot League this season.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LEE BARES, ARMY WEST POINT So., Lakeville, Minn.
Bares continues to dominate in the pole vault as he won the event with a mark of 5.20 meters at the Penn Challenge over the weekend. He has finished first in the event in every meet of the outdoor season and matched his best mark of the year at 5.20, which is tied for fourth in the NCAA East Region.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
BRIYAH BROWN, ARMY WEST POINT So., New Rochelle, N.Y.
Brown won the shot put at the Penn Challenge with a mark of 14.49 meters, which stands as the third-best toss in program history. She also came in third place in the discus with a toss of 41.09 meters.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
BEN SIMS, ARMY WEST POINT Fr., Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Sims had a pair of first-place finishes at the Penn Challenge, doing so individually in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.73 and as part of Army West Point's 4 X 100m relay squad which finished in 40.94. It was the second-fastest 4 X 100 in program history, while Sims also recorded the ninth-fastest 100m time for the Black Knights. He also came in third place in the long jump with a leap of 6.72 meters.

M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ABBY HALBROOK, ARMY WEST POINT Fr., Tyler, Texas
Halbrook finished 10th in the 1,500-meter run at the Penn Challenge as she clocked a time of 4:33.88, the sixth-best mark in program history.

HONORABLE MENTION

JOHN CAMPBELL, NAVY So., Amarillo, Texas
Campbell won the hammer (55.47m) and discus (51.59m) and placed second in the shot put (16.19m) at the Navy Spring Invitational.

LUCAS WARNING, LEHIGH Jr., Mertztown, Pa.
Warning placed first in the shot put at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet with a mark of 17.60 meters, which set a personal record for the outdoor season.

DAVE MCGRIFF, LAFAYETTE So., Flemington, N.J.
McGriff won the discus (51.86m) and placed third in both the hammer (53.90m) and shot put (14.91m) at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet.

HALE BULLEN, NAVY Jr., Annapolis, Md.
Bullen finished in sixth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 9:11.92.

JOSEPH BREEN, BUCKNELL Jr., Northborough, Mass.
Breen won the discus (47.19m) and placed second in the shot put (16.21m) at the Jim Taylor Invite.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NICK BYBEL, BUCKNELL Sr., Lancaster, Pa.
Bybel captured a pair of victories at the top singles flight against Mount St. Mary's and James Madison, winning both in straight sets. The senior defeated the Mountaineers' Austin Black 6-4, 6-4 and then captured his second victory at No. 1 singles of the Dukes' Sebastian Salinas - who was ranked in the nation and the Atlantic Region at the beginning of the season - by a score of 7-5, 7-5. He has now won six-straight singles matches. Bybel also added a victory in doubles action against James Madison at No. 2 with teammate Andrei Vitiuc, 6-3.

CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AMANDA KELLER, NAVY So., Jacksonville, Fla.
Keller defeated Lehigh's Christina Auyeung (2015 All-Patriot League First-Team) this weekend at No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, helping the Midshipmen defeat the Mountain Hawks 4-3 in Patriot League action. The sophomore also added a pair of wins at the top doubles flight against Lehigh and George Washington with teammate Claudia Mackenzie, defeating the Colonials in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-3) and the Mountain Hawks 6-3.

HONORABLE MENTION

SAM LAMPMAN, ARMY WEST POINT Jr., Orlando, Fla.
Lampman captured his first wins of the season with straight-set victories at the top singles flight against Lafayette and Holy Cross, finishing the week as the only Black Knight to go undefeated across multiple singles matches. The junior also added a 6-0 victory with teammate Michael Nguyen at No. 2 doubles against Holy Cross.

CHRIS MATTURRI, LAFAYETTE Sr., Chatham, N.J.
Matturi became the first Leopards to capture a win over a player from Army West Point in a regular-season match since 2011, winning at No. 3 singles in straight sets 7-5, 6-3. The senior added a second straight-set win at No. 3 against Holy Cross 7-5, 6-2 and also captured a win at No. 1 singles against the Crusaders with teammate Brian Stefanowicz, 6-2.

GENEVIEVE McCORMICK, ARMY WEST POINT Fr., Berwyn, Pa.
McCormick went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles play against Holy Cross and Lafayette, capturing a pair of straight-set victories in singles action that included bagelling her opponents in the second sets. The freshman captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 against Holy Cross and a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3 against Lafayette. McCormick also added a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles against the Crusaders and a 6-0 win over the Leopards at No. 3 doubles.

MARIA CIOFFI, BUCKNELL Sr., Williamsport, Pa.
Cioffi double bagelled Mount St. Mary's Kelly Smith at No. 1 singles, after she first captured a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles with teammate Emilie Bush. The senior is now 7-2 in singles action.
