Pujals, Smith, Kiselick and Palladino Earn Corvias Football Player of the Week Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Holy Cross senior quarterback Peter Pujals earned the Corvias Patriot League Football Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday after completing 42-of-64 pass attempts for 427 yards and three touchdown passes in the Crusaders’ loss to No. 24 New Hampshire. His teammate, senior defensive lineman Ryan Smith earned Corvias Defensive Player of the Week honors after tallying 3.0 sacks and six tackles against the Wildcats.
 
Pujals moved into seventh-place in Patriot League history with 8,476 passing yards and became just the fourth player in League history to eclipse 10,000 yards of total offense. He also broke a Holy Cross single-game record with 42 completions.
 
Georgetown’s senior defensive lineman Hunter Kiselick helped preserve the Hoyas’ 20-17 victory over Marist with two blocked field goals. Kiselick blocked his second field goal of the game in the fourth quarter to prevent the Red Foxes from tying the score at 20. He also contributed six tackles, 0.5 sack and one pass breakup to help GU continue as the PL’s only undefeated team at 2-0.
 
Fordham freshman running back D’Angelo Palladino rushed for 116 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown in his collegiate debut in an 83-21 win over Elizabeth City State. The freshman averaged 6.1 yards per carry and was one of three Rams to rush for more than 100 yards.

Corvias Offensive Player of the Week
Peter Pujals, Holy Cross, Sr., QB, 6-2, 213, Glenview, Ill./Loyola Academy
Pujals completed 42-of-64 pass attempts for 427 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for an additional 15 yards and a touchdown in a 39-28 loss at No. 24 New Hampshire on Saturday evening. Pujals threw for more than 400 yards for the second time in his career and broke the Holy Cross single-game completions record with 42. With Saturday’s performance Pujals becomes just the fourth Patriot League player to eclipse 10,000 yards of total offense. His 10,051 yards of total offense is fourth in Patriot League history.
 
Corvias Defensive Player of the Week
Ryan Smith, Holy Cross, Sr., DL, 6-4, 235, Union, Ky./Ryle
Smith earns Defensive Player of the Week after a six tackle, 3.0 sack performance against No. 24 New Hampshire on Saturday. Smith’s first sack came on a 4th-and-5 yard situation in the first quarter that helped set up a Crusader touchdown to take an early 14-0 lead. Another sack came on a third down to help force a Wildcat punt.
 
Corvias Special Teams Player of the Week
Hunter Kiselick, Georgetown, Sr., DL, 6-1, 250, Nutley, N.J./Bergen Catholic
Kiselick earns his first career Special Teams Player of the Week honor after blocking two field goals in Georgetown’s 20-17 victory at Marist on Saturday. Kiselick recorded his second blocked field goal of the game in the fourth quarter to prevent the Red Foxes from tying the score at 20. Kiselick also blocked a field goal in the second quarter. He finished the game with six tackles, 0.5 sack and one pass breakup to help the Hoyas move to 2-0 for the first time since 2012.
 
Corvias Rookie Player of the Week
D’Angelo Palladino, Fordham, Fr., RB, 5-10, 184, Ironton, Ohio/Ironton
Palladino eclipsed the 100-yards rushing mark in his collegiate debut, finishing with 116 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown for a 6.1 yards per carry average. He was second on the team in rushing yards, behind only Chase Edmonds, as Fordham had three 100-yard rushers in a game for the first time in program history.
 
Honorable Mention:
Brandon Bryant, Jr., LB, Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East
Bryant was a force for the Lafayette defense, finishing with a game-high 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and one pass breakup to keep the Leopards close with Delaware through the first three quarters.
 
Troy Pelletier, Jr., WR, 6-3, 205, Deerfield, N.H./Bridgton Academy
Pelletier led the Mountain Hawks with 13 receptions for 121 yards in Lehigh’s loss to No. 19/22 Villanova on Saturday. The 13 seconds is the second most for Pelletier during his career at Lehigh.
 
Phil Novacki, Sr., DL, 6-4, 255, Great Falls, Va./Langley
Novacki finished with five tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss of 13 yards and 1.5 sacks in Georgetown’s win over Marist. He led a Hoya defense that held Marist to 0-for-13 on third-down conversions and had a six-yard sack on Marist’s final drive to seal the three-point victory.
 
Makay Redd, Sr., PK, 6-1, 225, Alamo, Calif./Monte Vista
Redd set a Patriot League record with 11 PAT’s and also went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, hitting from 42 and 37 yards. The 11 PAT’s is the most made and attempted by a Patriot League placekicker.
 
Justin Harrell, Jr., WR, 6-0, 187, New Orleans, La./Newman
Harrell caught the eventual game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, while recording career highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (84).
 
George Dawson, Sr., LB, 6-2, 224, Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes
Dawson intercepted two passes and broke up a third in Fordham’s 83-21 win over Elizabeth City State University on Saturday. He also made four tackles to help the defense.
