CENTER VALLEY, Pa. —Bucknell and Colgate claimed wins over Holy Cross and Lehigh, respectively, and now have six points to sit atop of the standings in women’s soccer Patriot League action. Loyola Maryland is third with four points, while four teams – Lehigh, Navy, Army West Point, Boston University – each have three points.
Lehigh (7-1-1, 1-1 PL) had its shutout streak snapped in Hamilton when Colgate freshman forward Abby Sotomayor scored the game’s first goal in the 11th minute. In overtime the freshman once again found the back of the net to give the Raiders (4-3-3, 2-0 PL) the 3-2 victory. The goal marks her fourth game-winning goal. The Mountain Hawks shutout streak ended at 832:31 and freshman keeper Sam Miller’s shutout streak of 758:34 stands at 26th in NCAA history.
Boston University (1-10, 1-1 PL) captured its first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over American (1-10, 0-2 PL) on Saturday. The Terriers outshot the Eagles 19-1 and also had the advantage on corner kicks, 7-1. The BU goal came in the 25th minute when senior defender Rachel Bloznalis converted a penalty kick.
In Patriot League action, Sotomayor and Bucknell’s Maddie Mulford lead with six points and two game-winning goals apiece, while Bucknell’s Jessica Ratner has not allowed a goal yet in 180 minutes of action. American’s Morgan Lang has 14 saves, averaging seven a game.
A full week of Patriot League competition is ahead as all ten teams will be in action on Wednesday, before playing again over the weekend.

Sotomayor scored twice in the Raiders’ 3-2 overtime victory over Lehigh on Saturday, helping Colgate improve to 2-0 in League play for the fourth time in the last five years. The freshman first snapped Lehigh’s shutout streak of 832:31 when she scored the first goal against the Mountain Hawks in the 11th minute. She then scored the golden goal just 1:37 into overtime to hand Lehigh its first loss of the season. Sotomayor currently leads the League with four game-winning goals.

Sardella helped the Greyhounds tally two wins over Monmouth and Navy, as the Greyhounds improved to 5-2-2, 1-0-1 PL on the season. In the first game of the week, the sophomore assisted on the first-half goal in the 3-2 win over Monmouth on Tuesday. Against Navy, she marked the Midshipmen’s top scorer Clare MacAdam, who entered the contest with a team high six goals, and held her without a goal in the double-overtime win.

CLARE SEVERE, LEHIGH So., D, Bethesda, Md.
Severe helped the Mountain Hawks continue their shutout streak with a 1-0 win over Temple on Tuesday. The sophomore helped the defense hold the Owls to just four shots on goal and scored the golden goal 8:19 into overtime. Against Colgate, she helped the defense extend the shutout streak to 832:31 before the Raiders snapped the streak.

JESSICA RATNER, BUCKNELL Sr., GK, Langhorne, Pa.
Ratner earns her second-straight weekly honor this season after helping the Bison capture their second consecutive League shutout and sixth this year. The senior keeper tallied four saves in the 3-0 win over Holy Cross on Saturday for her 20th career shutout.

CASEY MCKENZIE, LOYOLA MARYLAND Fr., MF, New Egypt, N.J.
McKenzie recorded her first collegiate game-winner on Saturday night, helping the Greyhounds to their first win over the Midshipmen since 1994. The freshman secured the 2-1 double-overtime victory when she found the back of the net in the 105th minute with a shot inside the left post. She also assisted on the first goal to collect three points.

Gottlieb scored the Black Knights’ game-winning goal in the 53rd minute against Lafayette, helping Army to its first League win of the year, 2-1.

Ziff had a hand in both of the Greyhounds’ goals against Navy, scoring the first and assisting on the game winner in the 2-1 victory. It was the first win over the Midshipmen for Loyola Maryland since 1994.
JULIANNA CHEN, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., M, Milton, Mass.
Chen won the penalty kick and set up teammate Rachel Bloznalis for the eventual game-winner against American 1-0. She also helped hold the Eagles to just one shot.
