Patriot League Announces Corvias Football Players of the Week (10.30.17)

Palladino, Cunningham, McLarty and Breneman earn weekly honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Fordham sophomore running back D’Angelo Palladino rushed for an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) season-high 297 yards to earn his first Patriot League Football Corvias Offensive Player of the Week, while the Rams’ freshman linebacker Glenn Cunningham had 11 tackles and 4.0 sacks in a win over Lehigh to earn his first Corvias Defensive Player of the Week award when it was announced by the League office on Monday afternoon.
 
The duo helped Fordham hand Lehigh its first League loss in a 45-35 decision on Saturday. Palladino and Cunningham were joined as weekly honorees by Holy Cross freshman placekicker Jackson McLarty, who was named the Corvias Special Teams Player of the Week. Colgate freshman quarterback Grant Breneman earned his fourth Corvias Rookie of the Week and his League-high sixth weekly honor of the season.
 
Lehigh junior running back Dom Bragalone became the third player in program history to top 3,000 career rushing yards to highlight the weekly honorable mentions. Colgate junior wide receiver Thomas Ives had a career-high two touchdowns receptions, while Raiders’ sophomore linebacker Nick Ioanilli had two interceptions to aid in the win against Bucknell to join Bragalone. Holy Cross senior linebacker Nick McBeath had 13 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss (TFL) to help the Crusaders defeat Georgetown, 24-10, to round out the weekly honorable mention selections.
 
The Patriot League football Corvias Players of the Week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their own student-athletes.

Corvias Offensive Player of the Week
D’Angelo Palladino, Fordham, So., RB, Ironton, Ohio/Ironton
Palladino rushed for a career-high 297 yards on 31 attempts and three touchdowns to help Fordham knock off previously undefeated Lehigh, 45-35, on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore running back had touchdown runs of 70, 1 and 48 yards. Palladino’s 297 rushing yards was the highest single-game total in FCS this season.
 
Corvias Defensive Player of the Week
Glenn Cunningham, Fordham, Fr., LB, Glastonbury, Conn./Xavier
Cunningham led Fordham with 11 tackles and a Patriot League season-high 4.0 sacks in the Rams’ 45-35 victory over Lehigh, handing them its first League loss. The freshman linebacker also had two quarterback hurries, while forcing and recovering a fumble.
 
Corvias Special Teams Player of the Week
Jackson McLarty, Holy Cross, Fr., PK, Acworth, Ga./Mount Paran Christian
McLarty connected on all three of his field goal attempts and led the Crusaders with 10 points in a 24-10 victory over Georgetown on Saturday. The freshman made kicks from 29, 31 and 24 yards to help the Crusaders snap a five-game losing streak.
 
Corvias Rookie of the Week
Grant Breneman, Colgate, Fr., QB, Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff
Breneman accounted for four touchdowns for the second-consecutive week to help Colgate defeat Bucknell, 40-3, on Saturday. The freshman signal-caller completed 13-of-18 pass attempts for 177 yards and three touchdown passes, while rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown. He also tied his career-high with three touchdown passes.
 
Honorable Mention
Dom Bragalone, Lehigh, Jr., RB, South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport
Bragalone set new career-highs with 218 rushing yards on 27 attempts and six catches for 79 yards. He also had one rushing and one receiving touchdown in a 45-35 loss to Fordham on Saturday afternoon. Bragalone topped 3,000 career rushing yards, becoming the third player in program history to accomplish the feat. He posted the 10th 200-yard rushing game in program history.
 
Thomas Ives, Colgate, Jr., WR, Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale
Ives scored a career-high two touchdowns on four receptions for 82 yards in Colgate’s 40-3 victory over Bucknell on Saturday.  The junior wide receiver had touchdown catches of 12 and 20 yards on back-to-back scoring drives during a decisive second quarter for the Raiders.
 
Nick Ioanilli, Colgate, So., LB, Elwood City, Pa./Lincoln
Ioanilli intercepted two passes and recorded four tackles to help Colgate defeat Bucknell, 40-3, on Saturday afternoon. Both interceptions set up Colgate scoring drives and were the first two of Ioanilli’s collegiate career.  He also helped a Colgate defense hold the Bison to just three points, the fewest points allowed by the Raiders since 2014.
 
Nick McBeath, Holy Cross, Sr., LB, Miami, Fla./Christopher Columbus
McBeath finished with 13 tackles, 2.0 TFLs and a half sack in the Crusaders 24-10 win over Georgetown on Saturday afternoon. McBeath had a key tackle on a Georgetown 4th-and-1 play in the first quarter to keep the game scoreless. He led the defensive effort that limited the Hoyas to 181 yards of total offense.
