Patriot League Corvias Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Patriot League announced its weekly awards for its sixth week, ending March 12, in men’s lacrosse. Holy Cross’s Marc Buermann was named Corvias Offensive Player of the Week, while a trio of honors went to Army West Point. Reaves Klipstein, Dan Grabher, and AJ Barretto were named the Corvias Defensive Player, Faceoff Specialist, and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively. Colgate freshman Griffin Brown rounded out this week’s honors and was named the Corvias Rookie of the Week.
CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARC BUERMANN, HOLY CROSS Sr., M, West Caldwell, N.J.
Buermann helped the Crusaders to a 10-8 victory at Bucknell on Saturday, which was Holy Cross’s first victory over the Bison in program history. The senior scored three goals, including the goal that broke the 8-8 tie. He also dished out a pair of assists and picked up a groundball in the Crusaders’ first win in 27 tries.

REAVES KLIPSTEIN, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., D, Califon, N.J.
Klipstein anchored the Black Knights’ defense which held Lehigh to seven goals below its season average of 11 goals per game in a 6-4 victory on Saturday. The senior tallied a season high six groundballs and caused one turnover.

DAN GRABHER, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., FO, Glen Head, N.Y.
Grabher went up against Lehigh’s Conor Gaffney – who was leading the League in faceoff percentage – and won 10-of-14 draws to help the Black Knights to a 6-4 victory on Saturday. The senior shutout Gaffney in the first and third quarters, going 5-0 in faceoffs. He also helped cause two delay of game penalties on Lehigh which led to two goals in 20 seconds to give Army a 4-3 lead after the Mountain Hawks who began with a 3-1 advantage.

Barretto tied a career-high of 12 saves in the Black Knights’ 6-4 victory at Lehigh on Saturday. In 27 shots faced, the sophomore allowed just four goals and finished with a .750 save percentage. Seven of his saves came in the second half, which held off a late rally from Lehigh, and finished with a career-high tying five groundballs

Brown recorded his first hat trick of his career during the Raiders’ 13-6 win over Hobart on Wednesday. The freshman also tallied a pair of assists to post a career-best five points. He is now riding a streak of four multigoal games

Smith notched a hat trick in the Leopards 9-8 victory over Navy at home on Saturday, capturing their first win in Patriot League play since an 11-7 win over Holy Cross on April 4, 2015. He also picked up a pair of groundballs.

Cannon helped the Leopards to a 9-8 victory over Navy at home on Saturday, their first League win in Patriot League play since an 11-7 win over Holy Cross on April 4, 2015. He was a part of Lafayette’s defense that allowed just five goals in the first three quarters, eight total, and also picked up five groundballs and caused two turnovers.

Chick led the Mountain Hawks’ defense in Saturday’s 6-4 loss to Army West Point, holding the Black Knights to their lowest-scoring output. He picked up eight groundballs and caused four turnovers.

Anastos tallied 11 saves and allowed just eight goals as the Leopards defeated Navy at home on Saturday, 9-8, for their first win in Patriot League play since an 11-7 win over Holy Cross on April 5, 2015.
