CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Lehigh senior center Tim Kempton has been selected by the National Association of College Basketball Coaches (NABC) to compete in the 2017 Reese’s Division I College All-Star Game. Kempton, a three-time First Team All-Patriot League selection and two-time Player of the Year, will play in in the showcase on Friday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. EST at University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
Kempton, who will play for the East All-Stars, becomes the first Lehigh student-athlete and third from the Patriot League to be selected to play in the Reese’s Division I College All-Star Game, joining Bucknell’s Mike Muscala (2013) and American’s Vlad Moldveanu (2011).
The Scottsdale, Arizona native led the Patriot League in scoring (20.4 ppg) and rebounding (10.4 rpg) and was one of two players in Division I to average more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Kempton set the Patriot League record earning seven Player of the Week honors, while compiling 21 double-doubles during the season. He finishes his career fourth in Patriot League history in scoring (2,043) and second in rebounding (1,095). He joins Muscala as the only two players in League history to accumulate more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Kempton was named a Final Five Finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award presented to the nation’s top center in addition to being named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. He also has garnered NABC All-District honors and is the only League player selected as an ECAC All-Star.
Kempton, along with 64 other NCAA seniors, will also have the opportunity to impress NBA personnel at next month’s Portsmouth Invitational, which begins on April 12.
