Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Corvias Players of the Week Announced (4.10.17)
 
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Loyola Maryland remains the only unbeaten team in Patriot League play after defeating Holy Cross, 18-11 on Saturday. Lafayette dropped its first League game of the season in a high-scoring 20-16 loss at Boston University, while Navy defeated Colgate, 20-10 and Lehigh put away Army West Point, 15-8, to create a log jam of 4-1 teams near the top of the standings. Bucknell defeated American, 9-8, to stay even with the Terriers at 3-2 after a full Saturday of women’s lacrosse action.
 
Boston University junior attacker Avery Donahoe earns her first Patriot League Corvias Attacker of the Week honor after her seven point performance in a victory over Lafayette on Saturday. Navy junior midfielder Jenna Collins earns her third Corvias Midfielder of the Week honor for the season after finishing with seven points, five ground balls and four draw controls in a win over Colgate. Lehigh senior goalkeeper Taylor Tvedt’s impressive effort in a win over Army helped her earn Corvias Defensive Player of the Week, while the Mids freshman attacker Kelly Larkin picks up her seventh Corvias Rookie of the Week honor.
 
NAVY, LAFAYETTE AND LEHIGH ALL SIT AT 4-1 IN LEAGUE PLAY
With wins by Navy and Lehigh and Lafayette’s first League loss of the season, each team sits at 4-1 in Patriot League play with four League games left. Currently Navy holds the tiebreaker among the three teams, having defeated Lehigh, 16-9, back on March 29 to hold second-place overall. Lafayette has yet to play either team and sits in third in the League based on the three-team mini-conference tiebreaker. The Mountain Hawks are fourth with the loss to Navy. Lehigh hosts Loyola Maryland on Saturday with the opening draw scheduled for 1 p.m. Navy travels to Boston University for a 2:30 p.m. start, while Lafayette hosts Holy Cross at 4 p.m. All three games will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network (PLN).
 
MIDWEEK ACTION
Navy will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on No. 15 Virginia in the lone midweek game on the slate. This will be the third ranked opponent Mids have matched up with this season, including Duke (L, 20-12) on February 12 and Boston College (L, 20-11) on March 4.
 
NCAA ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS IN THE PATRIOT LEAGUE
*Lafayette senior attacker Kirsten Wilhelmsen is fourth among NCAA active career leaders with 184 goals.
*Bucknell senior attacker Christina Manis is fifth among NCAA active career leaders with 1.45 assists per game and third with 87 assists.
*Lehigh senior attacker Allison LaBeau is tied for fourth among NCAA active career leaders with 84 assists.
*Boston University senior goalkeeper Caroline Meegan is fourth among active players with 8.49 saves per game and 501 saves.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE LEADERS AMONG NCAA LEADERS
*Lafayette senior attacker Kirsten Wilhelmsen is second in the nation, averaging 4.00 goals per game and is sixth with 5.42 points per game this season. She has led Lafayette’s offense to seventh in the NCAA, averaging 15.00 goals per game. The Leopards are also fifth in the nation, picking up 23.42 ground balls per game.
*Navy is fourth in scoring offense (15.36 gpg), fourth in points per game (23.00) and sixth in scoring margin (6.27). Freshman attacker Kelly Larkin is second in the League and 14th in the nation, averaging 4.73 points per game, while junior midfielder Jenna Collins is fourth in the League and 25th in the nation, averaging 4.27 points per game.
*Bucknell senior attacker Christina Manis averages 2.55 apg, the seventh-best mark in the nation.
*Bucknell  senior defender Annie Gilbertson is 15th in the NCAA with 2.36 caused turnovers per game, Lehigh senior D/M Julianne D’Orazio is 25th averaging 2.09.   
*Loyola Maryland sophomore midfielder Taylor VanThof is fourth in the nation, averaging 7.92 draw controls per game. She is second in Loyola single-season history and seventh in League history with 106 draw controls.
*Boston University goalkeeper Caroline Meegan is third in the nation, averaging 11.60 saves per game, while currently 14th with a .502 save percentage. 
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
CORVIAS ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
Avery Donahoe, Boston University, Jr., A, Alexandria, Va.
Donahoe posted career-highs in goals (6) and points (7), to help Boston University hand Lafayette its first League loss of the season in a 20-16 victory on Saturday. Her six goals are the most by a Terrier since 2013, while she helped the team to its first 20-goal game since 2013.  The junior attacker scored three goals in the second half, including the final two of the game to help seal the victory.
 
CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Jenna Collins, Navy, Jr., M, Clarksville, Md.                  
Collins finished with a game-highs in points (7) and ground balls (5) to help Navy defeat Colgate, 20-10 on Saturday. She had five goals and two assists and also won four draw controls for the Mids. The junior attacker has scored in 23 consecutive games with at least one point, while recording her seventh hat trick of the season and 17th of her career.
 
CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Tvedt, Lehigh, Sr., GK, Apple Valley, Minn.
Tvedt made eight saves to post a .500 save percentage, while helping Lehigh defeat Army West Point 15-8 on Saturday. The senior goalie helped hold the Black Knights to over two goals under their season average, while also posting a season-high six ground balls and tying a career-high two caused turnovers. Tvedt made two saves and caused a turnover to spur a 7-0 Lehigh run in the second half to break the game open.
 
CORVIAS PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kelly Larkin, Navy, Fr., A, Alexandria, Va.
Larkin earns her seventh Corvias Rookie of the Week honor this season after scoring two goals, dishing out one assist and picking up one ground ball in Navy’s 20-10 victory over Colgate. Larkin has scored at least one goal in each of her 12 collegiate games, with eight multi-goal games.
 
HONORABLE MENTION:
Hannah Powers, Loyola Maryland, So., A, Skaneateles, N.Y.
Powers combined for five goals and six assists over two games during the Greyhounds 1-1 week. She also added seven ground balls and three draw controls in two games. Against No. 11 Syracuse, Powers had one goal, four assists, four ground balls and three draw controls in a 16-11 loss. She led Loyola Maryland against Holy Cross with four goals, two assists and three ground balls, helping them remain undefeated in League play.
 
Kirsten Wilhelmsen, Lafayette, Sr., A, Wallingford, Pa.
Wilhelmsen stuffed the stat sheet with three goals, three assists, four ground balls, five draw controls and four caused turnovers in the Leopards loss to Boston University on Saturday.
 
Taylor VanThof, Loyola Maryland, So., M, Livonia, N.Y.
VanThof continued her dominance on the draw, combining for 21 draw controls over two games to go along with one goal, one ground balls and two caused turnovers. Against No. 11 Syracuse, VanThof held the Orange’s Morgan Widner, who had led the nation in draw controls per game, to just five, while ending up with 10 herself and one goal. The sophomore midfielder had 11 draw controls and two caused turnovers in an 18-11 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday. She joins her sister Taryn VanThof as the only other Greyhound to record more than 100 draw controls in a single season. Her 106 draw controls is second highest single-season mark in Loyola history and seventh in Patriot League history.
 
Julianne D’Orazio, Lehigh, Sr., D/M, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
D’Orazio finished with three points one two goals and one assist, while picking up five ground balls, one draw control and causing one turnover in the Mountain Hawks 15-8 victory over Army West Point. She helped lead a Lehigh defense that held the Black Knights scoreless for a stretch of 16:51 in the second half to help put the game away.
 
Caroline Meegan, Boston University, Sr., GK, Lutherville, Md.
Meegan made 18 saves on 44 shots against a potent Lafayette offense to help the Terriers pull off a 20-16 victory. The senior goalie had a .529 save percentage despite allowing 16 goals against the Leopards, while also picking up four ground balls. Meegan leads the Patriot League with a .506 save percentage.
