2017 Patriot League Women's Swimming & Diving Academic Honor Roll
Center Valley, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland led the way with the most honorees of 29, as the 10 Patriot League members combined to place 196 student-athletes on the Women’s Swimming & Diving Academic Honor Roll announced on Monday.
Bucknell followed with 22 and both Army West Point and Colgate each had 20. Boston University, Holy Cross and Lehigh had 19 honorees apiece, while Lafayette and the United States Naval Academy had 18. American rounded out the group with 12.
A total of 26 student-athletes earned at least a 4.0 grade-point average in the spring, with each of the 10 members represented by at least one student-athlete. Army freshman Serica Hallstead (Life Science) led the way with a 4.121 and was one of two student-athletes to record a GPA over 4.0. Colgate senior Talia Fishbein (Environmental Studies) collected a 4.11 GPA while the following posted 4.0s: American’s Fiona Caulfield, Alyssa Colasurdo, Shannon Exley, Shannon Scovel, Caylee Watson; Boston U.’s Grace Anderson, Lauren Dixon; Bucknell’s Rachel Perry, Laureana Zrada; Colgate’s Megan Gallagher; Holy Cross’ Maura Mullaney; Lafayette’s Ashley Goreshnik, Marissa Rossi; Lehigh’s Kaitlyn Ruffing; Loyola’s Alden Bauman, Jenna Brown, Jenna Egan, Samantha Freitas, Anne Hayburn, Elizabeth Hunter, Theresa McKallen, Madalyn Myers; Navy’s Ellie Deglau and Molly Kuenstler.
In addition, all 10 members of the Academic All-League team announced in February appear on the honor roll, including Army senior Kelly Hamilton -- the Patriot League Women’s Swimming & Diving Scholar Athlete.
Hamilton also earned her fourth consecutive Academic Honor Roll recognition and was one of 18 seniors. American’s Alyssa Colasurdo, Shannon Scovel, Caylee Watson, Olivia Wons; Army’s Hannah Grosso; Boston U.’s Danielle Yoon; Bucknell’s Paige Daniel, Diana Hanson, Rachel Perry; Colgate’s Austin Anderson, Flora Hanson; Lafayette’s Ashley Goreshnik, Shoshana Hodes; Lehigh’s Kaitlyn Ruffing, Cora Summerfield; Loyola’s Samatha Freitas, and Elizabeth Hunter also received honor roll recognition for the fourth time.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.
