CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Boston University — the winner of Patriot League Women's Soccer regular-season title — claimed two of the League's six major women's soccer awards when the League office announced its postseason honors on Monday. Second-place Colgate also nabbed a pair of major awards, while American and Navy captured one apiece.
Terriers' freshman midfielder Taylor Kofton earned the Patriot League Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year, while BU head coach Nancy Feldman picked up her second Patriot League Women's Soccer Coach of the Year honor. Colgate junior Mara Cosentino was named the midfielder of the year, while classmate Kelly Chiavaro was named the goalkeeper of the year. American senior forward Yari Bradfield received offensive player of the year, while Navy junior back Alex Jackson earned defensive player of the year.
Eleven student-athletes were named to the 2018 Patriot League Women's Soccer First Team, with 12 on the second team and 10 on the third team. Of the 33 all-League selections there are 13 seniors, 10 juniors, seven sophomores, and three freshmen.
Colgate led the way with seven overall all-League selections, followed by Boston University and Navy with five each. Loyola Maryland followed with four honorees, while Holy Cross earned three spots on the teams. American, Army West Point, Bucknell, and Lehigh each had two student-athletes receiving All-League honors, as Lafayette had one selection.
The major awards and All-Patriot League teams were voted on by the 10 Patriot League women's soccer head coaches, who could not vote for their student-athletes or themselves.
2018 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year
Yari Bradfield, American, Sr., F, Hialeah, Fla. /Archbishop McCarthy
*Bradfield leads the Patriot League and is 11th in NCAA DI with 13 goals. She also leads the League in points (28) and points per game (1.65) while ranking among the nation's top-25 in both categories.
*The senior forward led an Eagles' offense that finished second in the League (1.412 goals/game).
*Bradfield has scored two game-winning goals this season, along with two assists.
2018 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year
Mara Cosentino, Colgate, Jr., M, Glastonbury, Conn. /Glastonbury
*Cosentino added six goals to her stat sheet with four of them being game-winners.
*The junior was previously named the 2018 Patriot League Preseason Midfielder of the Year.
*Cosentino was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week twice this fall, and received honorable recognition once this season.
2018 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year
Alex Jackson, Navy, Jr., D, Centennial, Colo. /Arapanoe
*The 2018 Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year earns the postseason award after scoring four goals and dishing one assist for nine points this season.
*The junior helped Navy's defense finish third in the League by allowing 0.95 goals per game.
*She was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week once this season.
2018 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year
Kelly Chiavaro, Colgate, Jr., GK, Blainville, Quebec/John Rennie
*In 15 games started the junior has earned a 0.46 goals-against average, which is first in the League. Chiavaro currently leads the League with a .908 save percentage and a 0.60 shutout per game average.
*The junior recorded nine shutouts in 2018 to tie for the League lead.
*Chiavaro ended the regular season with a 10-3-2 record in goal for the Raiders

2018 Patriot League Rookie of the Year
Taylor Kofton, Boston University, Fr., M, Norton, Mass. /Whitman-Hanson Regional
*In her freshman campaign as a Terrier, Kofton has produced four goals and started in 10 games.
*The rookie scored both goals off corner kicks in the 2-0 win over Lafayette in September.
*Kofton then scored one goal with proved to be the game-winner for Boston against Navy in early October. She nabbed her final goal of the regular season against Army West Point.
2018 Patriot League Coach of the Year
Nancy Feldman, Boston University
*In her 24th year at the helm of the Terriers, Feldman recently led the team to its second Patriot League regular season title with a 1-0 win over Colgate on Saturday.
*The Terriers finished the 2018 regular season with a 9-7-3 overall record and a 7-0-2 conference mark. Feldman
* Feldman also won the Patriot League Coach of the Year Award in 2013.
