Patriot League Teams Prepare for NCAA Cross Country Regional Championships (11.8.18)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – All 10 of the Patriot League men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action for the first time since the League championship on Friday, Nov. 9 for the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships. Six League teams will travel to Penn State, including the League champion Bucknell women for the Mid-Atlantic Regional, while the League men’s champion Army West Point will lead the remaining four Patriot League teams at the Northeast Regional, hosted by the University of Buffalo.  

Mid-Atlantic Regional Features the Patriot League Champions Bucknell Women
Penn State University will be the host site for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional this year. The event will feature 27 men’s and 31 women’s teams. American, Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland and Navy will represent the Patriot League at the Mid-Atlantic Regional. The event includes three nationally-ranked men’s and women’s teams. The No. 25 Princeton men are the top-ranked men’s team in the region according to the USTFCCCA Division I National Coaches Poll. In the women’s race No. 8 Villanova and host No. 13 Penn State lead the region. The women's 6K race will begin at noon, followed by the men’s 10K at 1:00 p.m.

Army West Point, Boston University, Colgate and Holy Cross Travel to Northeast Regional
The University of Buffalo will be the host site of the Northeast Regional event that includes Patriot League teams Army West Point, Boston University, Colgate and Holy Cross. The event has 38 men’s and 40 women’s teams competing, including four nationally-ranked men’s and women’s teams. On the men’s side, No. 12 Syracuse is the top team in the region. The women’s race features No. 20 Columbia, No. 25 Syracuse and No. 27 Dartmouth. The women's 6K race will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men’s 10K at noon.

Patriot League in the USTFCCCA Polls
*In Men’s Northeast Region, League champion Army West Point dropped a spot to No. 4, while Boston University slipped two places to finish at No. 9.
*In the Men’s Mid-Atlantic Region, Bucknell gained five spots to No. 9, Navy dropped four to No. 10, while Lehigh gained a spot to No. 12.
*In the Women’s Mid-Atlantic Region, League champion Bucknell gained a spot to No. 7, Lehigh three places to No. 10, and Navy dropped four to finish at No. 13.
