RALEIGH, N.C. - The Army West Point baseball team dropped a 12-1 decision to No. 19-ranked Auburn here Saturday night in their second game of the NCAA Raleigh Regional.

The loss sets up a rematch of Friday's opener between Army and N.C. State on Sunday. The Wolfpack defeated Northeastern 9-3 on Saturday afternoon in an elimination game. First pitch for Sunday's elimination contest is slated for 2 p.m. at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Auburn's Casey Mize, who is projected to be drafted No. 1 overall in Monday's Major League Baseball draft, had nearly all of his pitches working Saturday night. The junior entered the game fifth in the nation with 140 strikeouts and tacked onto that total with 11 on Saturday.

The Black Knights did manage some offense against the righty though as newly commissioned 2LT Jon Rosofftook him yard in the sixth inning. The senior drilled a solo shot to straight away center for his first home run of the season.

Mize had allowed just nine home runs and 10 walks in 102.2 innings of work heading into the game but the Cadets added to those numbers with Rosoff's long ball and walks drawn by Drake Titus and Matt Hudgins

Army battled toe-to-toe with its nationally ranked opponent throughout the opening three innings. Unfortunately, the Tigers registered a leadoff home run to left field in the fourth to break the scoreless deadlock.

Auburn then tacked on nine runs on seven hits and two errors in the fifth to break to game open at 10-0.

The Black Knights tried to cut into that lead when Rosoff launched his one-out long ball over the center field fence but that would be all the Cadets would muster off the Springville, Ala., native in Mize.

Two additional runs came home for the Tigers in the ninth to ultimately put the game out of reach.

Rosoff finished as Army's lone cadet-athlete with multiple hits at 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. Trey MartinMatt HudginsJohn McKenna, and pinch hitter Jax Luzinski all added hits in the game.

Starting pitcher Daniel Burggraaf, who was battling illness leading up to the game, went 4.1 innings allowing nine hits, and six runs, five of which were earned. The junior did manage to strike out five while on the hill.
