Patriot League Announces Men’s Soccer Players of the Week (9.24.18)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Boston University, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh and Loyola Maryland each won one Patriot League men’s soccer weekly award on Monday. Boston University’s Austin D’Anna received offensive player of the week honors for the first time this season, while Holy Cross’ Bobby Barsic earned midfielder of the week accolades. Loyola Maryland’s Jake Dengler won defensive player of the week, Colgate’s Jacob Harris received goalkeeper of the week honors and Lehigh’s Josh Luchini nabbed rookie of the week to round out this week’s honors.

PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Austin D’Anna, Boston University, So., F, Hernando, Fla.
* D’Anna scored his first goal of the season last Wednesday against Harvard.
* The sophomore then recorded one assist and one goal which was the game-winning goal against American in the team’s League opener.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S SOCCER MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Bobby Barsic, Holy Cross, Sr., M, Mentor, Ohio
* Barsic nabbed the overtime-winning goal against Navy to mark his first career goal, leading the Crusaders’ to their first win of the season.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jake Dengler, Loyola Maryland, So., D, Baltimore, Md.
* Dengler helped the Greyhounds post a shutout against Colgate, a team receiving votes in the national poll last week.
* Dengler and the rest of the defensive line gave up just one corner kick and limited the Raiders to seven shots in 110 minutes of play.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Jacob Harris, Colgate, Jr., GK, Brookline, Mass.
* Harris posted a season-high seven saves to hold off Loyola Maryland for his eighth career shutout and third of the season.
* On the season, the junior has 33 saves with a 0.80 goals-against-average.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Josh Luchini, Lehigh, Fr., F, Wexford, Pa.
* Luchini scored two of the three for Lehigh in the 3-0 shutout win over Army West Point this past weekend.
* The freshman is currently tied for the team-high lead in points with seven at Lehigh.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Satchel Cortet, Boston University, Jr., M, Pennington, N.J.
* Cortet had a three-point week last week as he scored one goal against American after he tallied an assist versus Harvard.
 
Mark Forrest, Lehigh, Sr., F, Douglassville, Pa.
* Forrest earned two assists against Army West Point this past Saturday to increase his season total to seven.
 
Michael Tahiru, Lehigh, Fr., M, Accra, Ghana
* Tahiru assisted on all three of the Moutain Hawks’ goals in the 3-0 victory this past Saturday.
 
Chase Vosvick, Loyola Maryland, So., GK, Phoenix, Md.
*Vosvick stopped a season-high four shots while shutting out Colgate, a team receiving votes in the national poll.
