Patriot League Announces 216 Student-Athletes Named to 2018 Football Academic Honor Roll
 
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League’s seven football programs combined to place 216 student-athletes on the 2018 Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll when the League office released the list on Friday.
 
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s seven fall championship sports, including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
 
Bucknell placed a League-high 45 student-athletes on the academic honor roll while Holy Cross had 37 and Fordham had 35 on the list. Lafayette (27), Lehigh (25), Georgetown (24) and Colgate (23) were each well-represented on the honor roll.
 
Thirteen of the 15 student-athletes selected to the 2018 Academic All-Patriot League Football team earned a spot on the honor roll, including two-time Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year Alex Pechin (Bucknell, Sr., P), a four-time academic honor roll selection. Bison teammate Rick Mottram (Sr., LB), Colgate’s Grant Breneman (So., QB) and Josh Cerra (Sr., P), Fordham’s Austin Longi (Sr., WR) and Bryce Petty (Sr., DB), Georgetown’s Gunther Johnson (Jr., QB) and Ahmad Wilson (So., DB), Lafayette’s Andrew Chuma (Sr. DL) and Trent Crossan (Sr., DB) and Lehigh’s Pete Haffner (So., LB) and Harrison Kaufman (Sr., DL) all made the 2018 academic honor roll.
 
The seven football programs also placed 25 of the 58 2018 All-Patriot League first- and second-team selections on the academic honor roll, including offensive player of the year James Holland Jr. (Colgate, Sr., RB) and four-time all-League running back Dominic Bragalone (Lehigh, Sr., RB). Three-time All-Patriot League selections Pechin, Tyler Castillo (Colgate, Sr., DB) and Isaiah Searight (Fordham, Sr. TE) all made the honor roll.
 
Three student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester, including Bucknell sophomore Rick Mottram, Lafayette senior defensive end Andrew Chuma and senior defensive back Trent Crossan.
