Patriot League Baseball Players of the Week Announced (3.31.25)

Holy Cross’ Egrie and Wywoda and Bucknell’s Calabrese receive weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Holy Cross took two of the three Patriot League baseball weekly awards when the League office announced honors on Monday. Bucknell garnered one accolade.
 
Crusaders’ junior outfielder C.J. Egrie earned Patriot League Player of the Week, batting .583 (9-for-16) and reaching base at a .938 clip. He hit two home runs, scored 11 runs, drove in six runs and stole seven bases in five games last week.  
 
Holy Cross junior right-handed pitcher Jaden Wywoda claimed his first Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week after tossing a 7.0-inning complete-game shutout with a career-high eight strikeouts in the Crusaders’ 9-0 victory over Navy on Sunday.
 
Bucknell freshman right fielder John Calabrese collected Patriot League Rookie of the Week after batting .583 (7-for-12) with four RBIs and five runs scored in four games for the Bison.
 
Army West Point junior OF Chris Barr, Lafayette Jr., RHP Trace Florio, Lehigh junior 2B Ryan Cochran and senior RHP Marcus Danchision and Navy sophomore RHP Brady Bendik and sophomore IF Evan Brown received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
C.J. Egrie, Holy Cross, Jr., OF, Ventnor City, N.J./Phillips Academy Andover
*Egrie batted .583 (9-for-16) and reached base at a .938 clip with two home runs, six RBIs, 11 runs scored and seven stolen bases in five games last week.
*He combined to go 5-for-7 with two home runs, six runs scored and five RBIs to help Holy Cross sweep a two-game series from Navy on Sunday.
*The junior outfielder went 2-for-3 with three runs, three stolen bases and one RBI against Harvard on Tuesday.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jaden Wywoda, Holy Cross, Jr., RHP, Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law
*Wywoda tossed a 7.0-inning complete-game shutout in Holy Cross’ 9-0 victory over Navy in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader.
*The junior right-hander scattered three hits, walked two and struck out a career-high eight batters in his Patriot League-leading fourth win of the season.
*He is fourth in the Patriot League in ERA (3.79), strikeouts (38) and opposing batting average (.239).
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
John Calabrese, Bucknell, Fr., RF, Staten Island, N.Y./Poly Prep
*Calabrese batted .583 (7-for-12), slugging .833 and reaching base at a .722 clip with four RBIs and five runs scored to help Bucknell go 2-2.
*The freshman right fielder went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and three walks in a 20-8 win at Holy Cross in game two of Friday’s doubleheader.
*He went 3-for-4 with an RBI in game two of Sunday’s doubleheader vs. Army West Point for his first collegiate three-hit game.

Chris Barr, Army West Point, Jr., OF, Sarasota, Fla./Riverview
*Barr batted .450 (9-for-20) and slugged .650 with seven runs scored and five RBIs on two doubles and one triple in five games last week. He went 8-for-9 with four RBIs and seven runs in Saturday’s doubleheader sweep over Bucknell.  
 
Trace Florio, Lafayette, Jr., RHP, Norwalk, Conn./Green Farms Academy
*Florio allowed one run on four hits in a 7.0-inning complete-game decision over Lehigh in the Leopards’ 8-1 victory. He struck out five and walked zero.
 
Ryan Cochran, Lehigh, Jr., 2B, Newtown Square, Pa./Malvern Prep
Cochran batted .417 (5-for-12), recorded a .750 slugging percentage and posting a .533 on-base percentage to help Lehigh take two of four games against Lafayette. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs in Friday’s 5-3 win. He went 2-for-3 with one double and a run scored in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader.
 
Marcus Danchision, Lehigh, Sr., RHP, Ringtown, Pa./MMI Prep
*Danchision tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out five in Lehigh’s 5-3 victory over Lafayette on Friday. He also tossed one scoreless inning with two strikeouts in an 8-1 win over the Leopards on Sunday.  
 
Brady Bendik, Navy, So., RHP, State College, Pa./State College
*Bendik threw a 7.0-inning complete-game shutout in Navy’s 3-0 victory over Army West Point on Friday. He allowed three hits and walked one while striking out six to help the Mids clinch its first season series against the Black Knights since 2021.
 
Evan Brown, Navy, So., IF, Marlton, N.J./Cherokee
*Brown batted .462 (6-for-13) with a .769 slugging percentage and .588 on-base percentage to help Navy go 3-2 last week, including a two-game sweep against Army West Point on Friday. He went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI in a 3-0 victory over Army West Point in game one. He went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a 5-1 game-two win.
