Patriot League Baseball Players of the Week Announced (5.4.26)

Lafayette’s Doubek and Quintana and Bucknell’s Schultz receive weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lafayette junior catcher Brandon Doubek and freshman right-handed pitcher Gregory Quintana were selected as Patriot League Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, when the League office announced the final set of weekly honors of the 2026 season. Bucknell junior RHP Jake Schultz received Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Lafayette’s Doubek collected Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week award for the first time after batting .333 (7-for-21) with two home runs and seven RBIs to help the Leopards go 3-2 last week.
 
The Leopards’ Quintana earned his first Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week after tossing 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win in Lafayette’s 3-1 victory over Holy Cross in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader.
 
Bucknell’s Schultz received his first Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. The junior right-hander tossed six scoreless innings, scattering three hits, in the Bison’s 4-0 win over Lehigh on Saturday to help clinch the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship.
 
Bucknell junior 3B Zach Selfon, Holy Cross senior RHP Jaden Wywoda, Lafayette junior RHP Ben Waterman, Lehigh sophomore LHP Jake Mulvehill and sophomore C/DH Ian Wirtz received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

*The junior catcher went 2-for-4 with a double, one home run and five RBIs in a 14-4 win over St. Peter’s.
*He went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a 3-1 victory over the Crusaders on Sunday.

*Schultz tossed six scoreless innings, scattering three hits to earn the win in the Bison’s 4-0 victory over Lehigh on Saturday.
*The junior right-hander struck out six and walked one, while stranding five runners.
*His 6.0-inning start was his longest of the season.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Gregory Quintana, Lafayette, Fr., RHP, Haymarket, Va./Paul VI
*Quintana tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, scattering four hits, to earn the win in the Leopards’ 3-1 victory over Holy Cross on Sunday.
*The freshman right-hander struck out five and walked two in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader.
*He posted his second scoreless start of the season against a Patriot League opponent.

*Selfon batted .500 (9-for-18) with three RBIs and a double to help the Bison go 3-1 last week, including taking two of three games from Lehigh to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship. He went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in the Bison’s 4-0 win on Saturday.

*Wywoda allowed one run on three hits over 9.0 innings in the Crusaders’ 4-2 victory over Lafayette in 13 innings. The senior right-hander struck out nine and walked one but did not figure in the decision.
 
Ben Waterman, Lafayette, Jr., RHP, Milton, Mass./Milton Academy
*Waterman allowed two runs on one hit through 7.0 innings to earn the win in Lafayette’s 7-4 victory over Holy Cross on Sunday. He struck out six batters in the win. He struck out seven in a 7.0-inning start at Army West Point on Monday but did not figure in the decision.

*Mulvehill scattered seven hits and allowed an unearned run through 5.2 innings to earn the win in Lehigh’s 10-4 victory over Bucknell on Sunday. The sophomore lefty struck out five and walked one.

*Wirtz batted .500 (5-for-10) with one double and one run scored during Lehigh’s four-game week. He went 2-for-4 with a double in Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Bucknell. He went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a 10-4 win on Sunday.
