WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) - Jay Amer threw for 248 yards and two
touchdowns to lead Towson University to a 20-0 victory over Monmouth University
on Saturday.
Amer hit Matt Romeo on a 12-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter
and he found Jamal White on a 19-yard scoring pass in the third quarter.
Romeo had opened the scoring for Towson (6-3) with a 1-yard run in the first
quarter.
White finished the game with eight receptions for 115 yards.
Towson could have won by more but Ben Whitacre missed field goal attempts of
31 and 34 yards. He also had an extra point blocked.
The loss was the third in a row for Monmouth (1-7). The Hawks were 3-for-16
on third-down conversions.
