TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Anthony Melzi threw a pair of touchdown passes in the
third quarter as Towson won its fifth consecutive home game, beating Albany
35-16 on Saturday.
Melzi, who completed 7 of 15 passes for 149 yards, gave the Tigers (6-5) a
28-9 lead with 4:05 left in the third quarter when he threw a 41-yard touchdown
pass to Eric Yancey.
With eight seconds left in the third quarter, Melzi tossed a 62-yard
touchdown to Jason Galloway, giving the Tigers a 35-16 advantage.
After Albany (7-4) took a 3-0 first quarter lead on a 31-yard field goal by
Stan Zylinski, the Tigers' Matt Romeo scored on a 14-yard run to give Towson a
7-3 lead.
The Great Danes regained the lead at 9-7 when Anthony Sciarra threw a
five-yard pass to Jon George. Zylinski's conversion attempt was missed.
Late in the second quarter, with Melzi sitting out a play after a
roughing-the-passer penalty, reserve quarterback Andrae Brown scrambled for an
11-yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 14-9 lead.
With 56 seconds left in the half, Jason Troilo gave the Tigers a 21-9 lead
when he tipped a screen pass into air, intercepted the pass and ran 38 yards
for a touchdown.
Albany's Gary Brown ran for 140 yards on 26 carries and scored one
touchdown.
