ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After taking a 37-day hiatus for finals and semester break, the Navy women's indoor track and field team heads to the Maryland-Eastern Shore Invitational in Princess Anne, Md., on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Navy (3-0) opened its 2005-06 indoor campaign with victories over American, Mount St. Mary's and Towson at Halsey Field House back on Dec. 1, 2005. Three Midshipmen runners qualified for the ECAC Championship in the season opening meet.

Junior Loni Forsythe (Chattanooga, Tenn.) sprinted to a time of 7.20 seconds in the 55-meter dash in qualifying for the ECAC Championship in March. Forsythe's 55-meter effort was only .01 second off her personal record she set on Jan. 15, 2005. The junior also claimed first in the 200-meter dash with a 26.12-second mark.

Fellow junior Danielle Still (Lawnside, N.J.) will advance to the ECAC Championship after recording an 8.22-second time in the 55-meter hurdles last month. Still, a talented multi-event competitor, finished second in 55-meter dash, 200-meter dash and shot put during the season-opener.

Classmate Justine Whipple (Duxbury, Mass.) joined Forsythe and Still as ECAC Championship qualifiers in Navy's first race of the campaign. Whipple, a 2005 First-Team All-Patriot League Cross Country runner, recorded a showing of 17:18.05 in the 5,000-meter run to place first. The junior's 5,000-meter run showing smashed her previous career-mark by 1:05.70.

In addition to the trio of juniors, a pair of sophomores also provided first-place performances in December. Taren Burkett (Virginia Beach, Va.) registered a time of 59.51 seconds in the 400-meter dash to claim first-place. Vicki Moore (Burke, Va.) set a career mark with a 2:20.07 effort in the 800-meter run to lead all runners.

Following Saturday's meet, the Midshipmen return home to host Robert Morris and UNC-Wilmington on Saturday, Jan. 14, with events beginning at 3 p.m.
