1996 Championship Football Team to be Honored Saturday

Sept. 6, 2006

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- At halftime of this Saturday night's football game against Patriot League rival Lafayette, the 1996 Bucknell team will be recognized in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of its Patriot League championship.

That season ended in dramatic fashion when the Bison defeated Colgate 28-27 in overtime. The two teams were tied for first place entering the game, meaning the winner would take home the championship trophy. LB Brandon Little broke up a two-point conversion pass in the end zone on the final play, giving Bucknell it's first title in 31 years.

Little and fellow co-captains George Howanitz and Rich Lemon, Bucknell's all-time leading rusher, are three of more than 30 players from that team expected to be in attendance this week.
