WASHINGTON - The American University men's basketball team captured its first Patriot League Championship on Friday with a 52-46 win over Colgate in front of a sold out crowd of in Bender Arena. With the win, AU has secured its first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance in the team's 82 year history.

Garrison Carr led the Eagles in their championship victory with 17 points and five rebounds while Brian Gilmore added 11 points and four boards off the bench.
