After making it to the Patriot League Championship game last season, men's basketball graduates Michael Gruner and Marek Koltun are continuing their playing careers overseas in Poland and England.
Gruner signed with Polpharma in Starogard Gdansko, Poland. Polpharma is part of the PLK league, the top division in Poland and finished 18-8 last season. Gruner's teammates include fellow Patriot League opponent Brian Gilmore from American and Deonta Vaughn from Big East school Cincinnati.
Gruner, who served as one of the 2009-10 team captains, started 79 of the 105 games he appeared in with a 40.7 field-goal percentage. He led the team last season with 50 steals and 88 assists averaged 7.0 points-per game.
Koltun will be playing with Leeds England, England. Leeds, located to the northeast of Manchester, competes in the EBL and finished third overall last season. Koltun will also be working towards an advanced degree in International Business at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Seeing action in 27 games in 2009, Koltun finished the season with 29 rebounds (148 career) and 14 blocks (52 career). The 6-10 center racked up 131 points in his four-years as a Leopard.
