Hamilton, N.Y. - Colgate University Director of Athletics David Roach announced today that head men's basketball coach Emmett Davis has been released from his contract.
Davis, who recorded the most wins in Colgate basketball history with 165, also led the Raiders to the Patriot League Championship game in 2008. From 2001-2004 the Raiders finished with three consecutive regular season winning records 17-10 (2001-02), 14-13 (2002-03), and 14-13 (2003-04). The Raiders also tied the school record for wins in a season with 18 in 2007-08.
In Davis' 13 seasons, 12 players were named to the Patriot League all-Rookie team while two players were named the conference's Rookie of the Year. Pat Campolieta and Mark Linebaugh were the Rookie of the Year winners in 1999 and 2001, respectively. While Pat Moore (2011), Mitch Rolls (2010), Yaw Gyawu (2009), Mike Venezia (2008), Kyle Roemer (2005), Kendall Chones (2004), Alvin Reed (2003), Keith Williams (2002), Howard Blue (2001), and Jordan Harris (1999) were each honored as all-Rookie team members.
The Raiders finished the 2010-11 season 7-23 overall and 4-10 in the Patriot League and will return all but one player next season.
