CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Fordham junior running back Chase Edmonds was selected to the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA) All-America team when it was announced on Wednesday, December 21. Edmonds becomes the first Patriot League player selected to the team in its four-year history.
This season marks the fourth annual FCS ADA All-America team, which recognizes one top player at each position, forming a team of 11 student-athletes. The 2016 class includes student athletes from 11 different institutions, representing six different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors.
Edmonds was one of two Patriot League players to earn Consensus All-America status in 2016. The three-time First Team All-Patriot League selection and three-time Walter Payton Award finalist led the nation with 1,799 rushing yards, while finishing third with 19 rushing touchdowns and third with 20 total touchdowns. Edmonds broke the Patriot League career record for rushing touchdowns (62), while becoming just the second player in League history to eclipse 5,000 rushing yards. He is the FCS active leader in career rushing touchdowns (62), points per game (11.2), rushing yards per game (142.8). This season he set the NCAA record for most yards per carry in a single game (21.9), while breaking the League’s single-game rushing record with 359 yards vs. Lafayette.
