Patriot League Football Saturday Recap (11.4.17)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Fordham senior running back Chase Edmonds became the Patriot League’s career rushing yards (5,677) and all-purpose yards (7,124) leader and Lehigh senior wide receiver became the League’s career receptions (298) leader on a record-breaking Saturday afternoon in Patriot League football.
 
The Mountain Hawks offense was too much for the Bison defense, as Lehigh won 42-21, moving back to the top of the standings at 3-1. The Lafayette defense held an opposing offense without a point for the second-consecutive game in its 7-0 victory over Georgetown to move to 3-1 in League play. Holy Cross spoiled Chase Edmonds' record-breaking day, scoring 35-consecutive points in a 42-20 victory over the Rams.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lehigh senior wide receiver Troy Pelletier became the Patriot League’s all-time receptions leader finishing with nine catches for 97 yards in the Mountain Hawks’ 42-21 victory over Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa. on Saturday
*Pelletier has 298 receptions, surpassing former Fordham star Javaris Dudley’s previous record of 295 receptions.
*Junior running back Dom Bragalone led Lehigh with 136 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.
*Bucknell sophomore running back Chad Freshnock finished with 174 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. His 85-yard touchdown rush in the first half is the fifth-longest in Bucknell program history. His three-touchdown day is the first for a Bison since Matt DelMauro accomplished the feat in 2014.
*Lehigh junior quarterback Brad Mayes connected with senior wide receiver Gatlin Casey on an eight-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.
*Freshnock answered with an 85-yard touchdown run less than one minute later to tie the score.
*Bragalone took over, rushing for touchdowns of 44 and seven-yards less than two minutes apart, before junior running back Micco Brisker added a 22-yard score with 1:03 left in the first quarter.
*Freshnock scored on a 23-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, but Bragalone countered with a 29-yard touchdown to give the Mountain Hawks a 35-14 lead at the half.
*Casey caught another touchdown pass from Mayes in the third, before Freshnock had his third touchdown of the day in the fourth quarter.
*Bucknell senior linebacker Mark Pyles finished with 10 tackles, 1.0 sack and an interception.
*Lehigh junior linebacker Mark Walker had seven tackles, one forced fumble and fumble recovery and an interception.

BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham senior running back Chase Edmonds became the Patriot League’s career leader in rushing yards and all-purpose yards, but Holy Cross reeled off 35-consecutive points on the way to a 42-20 victory on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.
*Edmonds gained 63 yards on 20 carries and scored twice to pass former Colgate star Jordan Scott for the League rushing record with 5,677 career rushing yards. His 109 all-purpose yards passes former Ram Javaris Dudley, giving him 7,124 career all-purpose yards.
*Holy Cross rushed for 354 yards, with senior running back Gabe Guild leading the way with 107 yards and one touchdown. Miles Alexander and Diquan Walker both had rushing touchdowns.
*Senior quarterback Peter Pujals completed 15-of-25 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns.
*Holy Cross senior linebacker Nick McBeath opened the scoring, recovering and returning a fumble 61 yards for a touchdown at the 12:34 mark in the first quarter. McBeath finished with nine tackles.
*Edmonds scored a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to put Fordham in front, 14-7.
*Guild had a 15-yard touchdown rush late in the second quarter to start a 35-0 rally by the Crusaders.
*Holy Cross had two touchdowns in each the third and fourth quarter to take a 42-14 lead.
*The Rams added one final score with six seconds remaining, as Austin King connected with Hunter Harris for a 26-yard touchdown pass.
*Fordham senior defensive lineman Manny Adeyeye had 11 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss and 1.0 sack.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman quarterback Sean O’Malley’s touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Nick Pearson in the second quarter was the lone score of the game, as Lafayette held on for a 7-0 win over Georgetown on Saturday afternoon.
*O’Malley completed 17-of-25 passes for 101 yards and one touchdown.
*The defenses were on display, as neither team broke 200 yards of total offense on the afternoon.
*Lafayette junior Jerry Powe had eight tackles, 1.0 TFL and 1.0 sack, while sophomore defensive back Eric Mitchell had four tackles and two interceptions. Senior cornerback Phillip Parham also had his sixth interception of the season.
*Georgetown sophomore defensive lineman Khristian Tate had 11 tackles 2.5 TFL’s for 20 yards and 1.0 sack, while senior linebacker Dan Yankovich had 10 tackles and 2.0 TFL’s.
