CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League has announced the hiring of Jackie Eddy as Associate Director of Communications. She recently joined the League office in late October after spending the 2016-17 academic year in the public relations department at the Big South Conference.
Eddy will handle daily management of the Patriot League’s official website – PatriotLeague.org – in addition to coordinating content for the League’s social media platforms. She will also serve as the League’s primary contact for men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis.
“Jackie has gained valuable experience at both the campus and conference level, which will be an asset to the League office and our member institutions,” Commissioner Jennifer Heppel said. “We are excited to welcome her to the League.”
“I am thankful and excited to join the Patriot League and begin working with such highly-respected member institutions,” Eddy said. “Growing up around the Lehigh Valley, I have been familiar with the League and its mission for a long time and look forward to helping grow its profile.”
At the Big South, Eddy served as the primary contact for cross country, volleyball, indoor and outdoor track and field, Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) swimming and diving, tennis, and softball. She also managed the conference’s Snapchat and Instagram accounts during the Big South Men’s and Women’s Basketball Conference Tournaments.
Prior to the Big South, Eddy worked as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Newberry College, where she was the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, the spirit teams, women’s basketball, and baseball.
Eddy began her post-graduate career at Greensboro College, as a sports information intern during the winter and spring semesters. At Greensboro College, she was the contact for the school’s baseball program.
A Stewartsville, New Jersey native, Eddy graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2014 with a B.A. in mass communications with a concentration in journalism. At Bloomsburg she spent nearly two years working in the sports information department under the direction of Tom McGuire, the University’s current Director of Media Relations and Content Strategy.
