Patriot League Announces Men’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week (11.12.18)
 
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –  Colgate sophomore guard Jordan Burns was named the Patriot League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Lehigh freshman center Nic Lynch claimed rookie of the week honors when the first set of men’s basketball weekly awards of the season were announced by the League office on Monday.
 
Burns, a 2017 Patriot League All-Rookie Team selection, averaged 19.0 points and 5.0 assists to help the Raiders go 2-1 in their opening week. Lynch averaged 10.0 points over two games, while recording his first double-double against Miami (Fla.) on Friday.
 
Army West Point junior forward/center Matt Wilson, Bucknell senior guard Kimbal Mackenzie and Lehigh junior forward Pat Andree all received weekly honorable mention.
 
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes. 
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Burns, Colgate, So., G, San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall
*Burns averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds to help Colgate go 2-1 with wins over Monmouth and Cornell last week.
*The sophomore guard exploded for a career-high 30 points, connecting on a career-high five 3-pointers in the Raiders’ win over Monmouth on Friday.
*Burns had 14 points and a game-high eight assists in Sunday’s win over Cornell. 
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nic Lynch, Lehigh, Fr., C, Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep
*Lynch averaged 10.0 points and 6.5 rebounds during Lehigh’s 1-1 opening week, including a win over Monmouth.
*The freshman center recorded his first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to ACC-opponent Miami (Fla.) on Friday.
*He finished with 10 points and three rebounds in nine minutes played against Monmouth, going 5-of-7 from the floor.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Matt Wilson, Army West Point, Jr., F/C, Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County
*Wilson scored a career-high 24 points on 8-of-8 shooting in a win over Marist, before leading the Black Knights with 15 points and nine rebounds in a loss to No. 4 Duke.
 
Kimbal Mackenzie, Bucknell, Sr., G, Oakville, Ontario/John Carroll (Md.)
*Mackenzie averaged 21.5 points during a 1-1 week for the Bison, including a career-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting (4-of-4 from 3-pt. range) in a win over St. Bonaventure.
 
Pat Andree, Lehigh, Jr., F, Colts Neck, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy
*Andree scored a career-high 31 points, connecting on 6-of-10 shots from deep, while pulling down eight rebounds in a season-opening win against Monmouth.
