Patriot League Volleyball Places 96 Student-Athletes on 2018 Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –
The Patriot League has announced its 2018 Volleyball Academic Honor Roll, with the League’s nine programs combining to recognize 96 student-athletes for their excellence in the classroom.
 
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s seven fall championship sports, including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
 
Loyola Maryland placed all 15 student-athletes from its roster on the academic honor roll while Lehigh had 13 make the list. American and Lafayette both placed 12 members on the honor roll, as both Colgate and Navy had 11 members each. Bucknell (10), Holy Cross (9) and Army West Point (3) round out the list of honorees.
 
All seven members of the 2018 Academic All-Patriot League squad made the honor roll, including the three-time volleyball scholar-athlete of the year, Navy senior outside hitter Patricia Mattingly.
 
The nine volleyball programs also placed nine of the 14 2018 All-Patriot League first- and second-team selections on the academic honor roll, including player of the year Aleksandra Kazala (American), setter of the year Patricia Mattingly (Navy) and libero and rookie of the year Katie Forsythe (Loyola Maryland).
 
Eleven student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester, including American sophomores Helena Elbaek and Olivia Wassner, Lafayette freshman Abby Devlin, Lehigh senior Megan Polak and sophomore Claire Nagelhout, Loyola Maryland senior Haley Puddy and sophomore Alaina Acchione, and Navy Mattingly and juniors Natalie LaPlaca, Paige Miles, and Olivia Rozmus.
