Final Results
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Navy men claimed their sixth-consecutive outdoor track & field team title while the Navy women captured their second-straight crown at the conclusion of the 2019 Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Holy Cross’s Hart Track & Field Complex.
The Midshipmen men tallied 289 points to finish in front of second-place Army West Point, who compiled 255 points. Bucknell earned 94 points, with Boston University finishing with 80 points and Lafayette rounding out the top five with 45 points. Host Holy Cross (41), Lehigh (36), Colgate (10) and American (6) complete the standings in the nine-team men’s field.
Navy’s women won its second straight title and fourth in League history by earning 181.50 points during the two-day championship. Army West Point totaled 155 points, with Boston University (137) and Bucknell (126.50) both eclipsing 100 points. Lehigh finished fifth with 96.50 while the host Crusaders (76.50), Loyola Maryland (48), Lafayette (20), American (16) and Colgate (1) round out the 10-team women’s field.
Four Patriot League Championship records were broken during the two days in Worcester, Mass. with three on the women’s side and one in the men’s competition. Holy Cross sophomore Christa Moore broke the League’s pole vault record, clearing the bar at 3.97 meters. Bucknell sophomore Maura Fiamoncini broke her own javelin record with a throw of 51.26 meters. Army West Point junior Calli McMullen broke the League’s 200-meter dash record in the preliminary round with a time of 23.89. Army West Point sophomore August Cook broke the men’s championship javelin record with a throw of 72.45 meters.
Navy earned five of the 10 Patriot League major awards with Head Coach Jamie Cook claiming his second men’s outdoor coach of the year and first women’s coach of the year honor after helping lead the Mids to the men’s and women’s championships. Mid’ junior John Finnegan was named the male track athlete of the meet after winning the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter run and being part of Navy’s winning 4x400-meter relay team. Senior Sean Brennan won the hammer throw, shot put and discus to claim field athlete of the meet recognition and win men highest point-scorer honor.
Army West Point picked up four major awards with McMullen receiving women’s track athlete of the meet and highest point scorer by winning the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and leading helping the 4x100-meter relay team earn gold. Freshman Justin Young was named male rookie of the meet by winning the 110-meter hurdles and finishing second-place in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay race. Classmate Emily Mikoud was the women’s rookie of the meet after winning the shot put.

EVENT CAPSULES
100-METER DASH
Navy took the top two spots in the men’s 100-meter dash with junior Evan Lexo claiming gold with a time of 10.45 and senior Aaron Watson capturing silver by finishing in 10.62. On the women’s side, Army West Point junior Calli McMullen won the 100-meter dash for the third-consecutive season, finishing in 11.61. Bucknell junior Kaitlin Salisbury finished second with a time of 11.93.
100-METER HURDLES
Boston University sophomore Bridget Chiaravalle won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.10 while Navy freshman Breanna Mealer placed second in 14.22.
110-METER HURDLES
Army West Point freshman Justin Young claimed first-place with a time of 13.89, edging out Navy senior Kordell Williams, the two-time outdoor 110-meter hurdles champion, who finished with a time of 14.26.
400-METER HURDLES
Navy junior Cameron Hurd improved on his second-place finish in 2018 to win the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 51.32. Army West Point freshman Justin Young earned silver by finishing in 51.80. Navy senior Amanda Agana won the gold medal with a time of 59.52 with Loyola Maryland junior Heather Merrifield placing second in 1:00.34.
200-METER DASH
McMullen broke the outdoor championship record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.89 during the preliminary round on Friday, then came back to win gold with a time of 24.02 on Saturday. Navy junior Regine Tugade finished second in 24.76. On the men’s side, Army West Point sophomore Kedrin Jefferson captured gold with a time of 21.29, improving on his second-place finish at the 2018 outdoor championships. Boston University junior Chiebuka Onwuzurike claimed the silver medal with a time of 21.37.
400-METER DASH
Navy junior John Finnegan finished in 47.01, taking first-place over Army West Point’s Maddox by four-hundredths of a second. Finnegan finished third in the 400-meter dash in 2018. Boston University junior Leah Fowlkes won the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.57 in front of second-place finisher Chelsey Edwards of Navy, who finished in 55.43.
800-METER RUN
Finnegan also took gold in the 800-meter run in 1:50.62, finishing in front of silver medalist Jackson Sullivan (1:50.76) of Army West Point. Loyola Maryland sophomore Senna Ohlsson claimed gold for the Greyhounds, winning by nearly two seconds in 2:08.69. Ohlsson is the Greyhounds’ first student-athlete to win an individual title. Bucknell sophomore Tiara Tardy finished second in 2:10.21.
1,500-METER RUN
Lehigh sophomore Sean Brown won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:45.72, nearly three seconds in front of Navy junior Jake Brophy, the second-place finisher. On the women’s side, Army West Point senior Abby Halbrook returned to the top spot on the medal stand, finishing in 4:35.08. Halbrook was the outdoor champion in the 1,500-meter run in 2017 and finished second last season. Boston University sophomore Andrea Claeson finished second in 4:36.41.
3,000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Navy junior Kevin Murray ran away with the 3,000-meter steeplechase by nearly 10 seconds with a time of 8:55.32. Bucknell sophomore Connor McMenamin placed second with a time of 9:04.51. On the women’s side, Lehigh senior Stacie Nadel won gold with a time of 10:40.63, improving on her 2018 second-place finish. Army West Point junior Samantha Coletti finished second in 10:42.61.
5,000-METER RUN
Navy junior Jake Brophy placed first in the 5,000-meter run in 14:20.86 while Army West Point junior Roman Ollar finished close behind in second place with a time of 14:21.40. Boston University junior Abigail Gugel won the women’s 5,000-meter run in 17:11.17 while Lafayette freshman Autumn Sands claimed silver in 17:13.35.
4X100-METER RELAY
Navy’s 4x100-meter relay team of Aaron Watson, Austin Pierce, Evan Lexo and Demetrius Lanier captured gold in a time of 40.39. The Mids’ relay unit also took first-place in 2018. Army West Point’s squad of Andre Vaughn, Ben Sims, Kedrin Jefferson and Kevin Dyer placed second in 40.45. Army West Point’s team of Lynne Mooradian, Jade Robinson, Yasheika Beckaroo and Calli McMullen won the women’s 4x100-meter relay for the second-straight season, as Holy Cross’s team of Isabella DiMare, Allison Smiley, Sarah Friess and Alexandra Curtin finished second in 46.43.
4X400-METER RELAY
Boston University’s four of Greer Liguori, Anna Foreman, Leah Fowlkes and Jordan Coverson took first-place in the women’s 4x400-meter relay in 3:42.23 with Navy’s team of Chelsey Edwards, Lauren Heaton, Sydney Barber and Amanda Agana finishing second in 3:43.18. In the men’s race, Navy captured gold with the team of Eric Hughey, Simon Petsch, Hurd and Finnegan, who finished in 3:08.90. Army West Point’s team of Tarik Samuel, Young, Kevin Sembrat and Maddox finished in 3:11.65.
HIGH JUMP
Army West Point won the top two spots on the men’s side with senior Jeff Giannettino earning his second consecutive gold medal with a jump of 2.07 meters. Freshman Joshua Gilliard finished second by clearing the bar at 1.97 meters. On the women’s side, Bucknell claimed the top two places in the high jump with junior Lexy Forrestal and freshman Taylor O’Brien finishing first and second, respectively by clearing 1.65 meters.
TRIPLE JUMP
Navy junior Cedric Williams won gold in the triple jump with a leap of 14.84 meters, besting his second-place finish in 2018. Holy Cross sophomore Michael Pichay finished second with a jump of 14.77 meters. In the women’s event, Boston University senior Kennedy Jones recorded a jump of 12:01 meters to place first, with 2018 champion Boston University junior Lovie Burleson finishing second with a leap of 11.87 meters.
SHOT PUT
Brennan claimed gold with a throw of 17.51 meters and Army West Point sophomore Geoff Kirk picked up the silver medal with a distance of 17.00 meters. Army West Point freshman Emily Mikoud clinched a first-place finish with a throw of 14.55 meters while Navy sophomore Samantha Orie claimed second place with a throw of 14.37 meters.
DISCUS
Brennan claimed his third gold medal of the championships in winning the discus competition with a throw of 54.72 meters, in front of second-place finisher in freshman Jamir Gibson of Army West Point, who earned second-team all-League honors with a throw of 52.41 meters. Lehigh sophomore Brittany Curtin won the discus for the second-straight year with a throw of 45.89 meters, with freshman teammate Teasha McCoy finishing second with a throw of 45.31 meters.
DECATHLON
Navy senior Ben Stewart won the decathlon for the second-straight season, compiling 6,906 points to finish in front of Lehigh junior Kyle Sult (6,813). Stewart won the 100-meter dash and the pole vault among the multi-event competitors.
HEPTATHLON
Navy junior Catlen Goss won the heptathlon with 4,567 points over the two-day competition to edge out Boston University junior Ava Gruzen, who finished with 4,563 points. Goss earned bronze at the 2018 championships.
