BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh’s last-minute comeback attempt came up short in a 14-13 loss to Saint Francis (Pa.) in the season opener at Goodman Stadium.
*Senior quarterback Tyler Monaco completed 21-of-51 passes for 270 yards and senior wide receiver Devon Bibbens caught a game-high six passes for 73 yards.
*Senior linebacker Keith Woetzel finished with nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss (TFL) and 1.0 sack, while junior linebacker Pete Haffner also had nine tackles.
*Fifth-year safety Sam McCloskey returned a fumble 56 yards to put the Mountain Hawks in front 10-0 at the 1:46 mark in the first quarter.
*Senior placekicker Austin Henning connected on a pair of first-half field goals to give Lehigh a 13-0 lead at halftime.
*Red Flash sophomore quarterback Jason Brown threw a pair of second-half touchdown passes to take a 14-13 lead with 1:17 remaining in the game.
*Lehigh’s 40-yard field goal attempt with six seconds remaining in the game sailed wide right, to give Saint Francis (Pa.) a 14-13 win.

BRONX, N.Y. – Sophomore quarterback Tim DeMorat’s third touchdown pass of the afternoon tied the game, at 23 apiece, with 1:53 remaining in the game, but Central Connecticut State connected on a 31-yard field goal as time expired to sink the Rams, 26-23, in the season opener at Coffey Field.
*DeMorat completed 17-of-27 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns and junior Hamze El-Zayat had eight catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Rams’ offense.
*Junior running back Zach Davis finished with 109 rushing yards on 19 carries and sophomore running back Naim Mayfield carried nine times for 74 yards.
*Sophomore linebacker Ryan Greenhagen had eight tackles, and 2.5 TFLs and senior Jesse Bramble added seven tackles, 2.0 TFLs and 1.0 sack.
*The Rams trailed 23-16 late in the fourth quarter before DeMorat capped a 10-play, 34-yard drive with a 13-yard touchdown pass to freshman wide receiver Dequece Carter.
*The Blue Devils drove 63 yards in six plays to set up a 31-yard field goal as time ran out to down Fordham, 26-23.
