Patriot League Announces Men’s Soccer Players of the Week (9.30.19)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Lehigh and Navy earned two weekly Patriot League Men's Soccer weekly awards each while Holy Cross nabbed one weekly honor when the League office announced results on Monday.

Lehigh sophomore forward Josh Luchini received the Patriot League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate senior midfielder Alex Greene earned midfielder of the week honors.

Navy sophomore Matt Nocita was named defensive player of the week while teammate junior Ian Bramblett nabbed goalkeeper of the week accolades. Holy Cross midfielder Jack Ostrosky rounded out the weekly awards as the rookie of the week.

Bucknell junior forward Matt Thorsheim, Colgate sophomore forward Edward Bass and senior goalkeeper Jacob Harris, Lafayette senior forward James Gibson, Navy junior midfielder Wyatt Millard and sophomore forward Jacob Williams all were placed on the honorable mention list.

Josh Luchini, Lehigh, So., F, Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny
* Luchini finished his four-goal, two-game-winning goal week with a hat trick to give Lehigh the 4-2 victory against Boston University on Saturday.
* The hat trick is the first of Luchini's career, with five of his six shots against the Terriers were on goal, increasing his season SOG percentage to .708.
* Luchini also scored the game-winner at Penn on Tuesday night in the 67th minute.
* He also has 16 points to lead his teammates and the Patriot League, while scoring at least one goal in six of Lehigh's eight contests this season.

Alex Greene, Lehigh, Sr., M, Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound
* Greene finished with three assists on the week, two against Boston U including an assist on the game-winner to beat the Terriers Saturday night.
* In the 2-1 win against Penn on Tuesday, Greene provided the assist on Michael Tahiru's goal in the 19th minute.
* In the 4-2 defeat over Boston University, he first tallied an assist on Stevo Bednarsky's first career goal in the 62nd minute and followed it up with the assist on Josh Luchini's game-winner in the 69th minute.
* The two assists against the Terriers tied Greene's career-high for a single game with a two-assist performance at American on Oct. 21, 2017.

Matt Nocita, Navy, So., D, Porter Ranch, Calif./Oaks Christian
* Nocita played in all 180 minutes for Navy last week and had a pair of defensive saves in Navy's 2-0 win over Loyola.
* After helping Navy record a shutout against Liberty on Tuesday, Nocita came back on Saturday and helped the Navy defense with a pair of clearances off the goal line to maintain the shutout in the 2-0 win on the road against the Greyhounds.
* The sophomore also added an assist against Loyola on Nicko West's game-winning goal to help Navy move to 9-0-0 on year and run its winning streak to 13 matches.

Ian Bramblett, Navy, Jr., GK, Easley, S.C./Easley
* Bramblett made four saves this week to record two more shutouts against Liberty (W, 1-0) and Loyola (W, 2-0).
* The junior made a save in Navy's 1-0 home victory against Liberty and then notched three stops on the road against Loyola to secure a 2-0 win.
* Bramblett now has seven shutouts in nine matches this season with a 0.22 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage while making 18 saves and allowing just two goals on the year.
* The Midshipmen have recorded three-straight shutouts and have not allowed a goal in 310:21.

Jack Ostrosky, Holy Cross, Fr., M, Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional
* Ostrosky played in one game for the Crusaders and had a hand in both of their goals.
* On Saturday, he scored his first collegiate goal on a header and followed up with an assist to push Lafayette to double overtime.

Matt Thorsheim, Bucknell, Jr., F, Manalapan, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy
* Thorsheim scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw at George Mason on Tuesday before helping assist the opening goal as Bucknell drew American 1-1 to remain unbeaten in league play.

Edward Bass, Colgate, So., F, Dallas, Texas/Highland Park
* Bass scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute against Army on Saturday, giving the Raiders their first League victory of the season in a 1-0 final.

Jacob Harris, Colgate, Sr., GK, Brookline, Mass./The Rivers School
* Harris notched his fourth clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win at Army on Saturday, as he made five saves in goal.

James Gibson, Lafayette, Sr., F, Surrey, England/Tanglin Trust (Singapore)
In just his third start this season, Gibson netted the game-winner for the Leopards in the 109th minute against Holy Cross on Saturday to give the Leopards the 3-2 double-overtime victory. The victory helped Lafayette to start conference play 2-0 and win two straight in conference action since 2017.

Wyatt Millard, Navy, Jr., M, Columbia, S.C./Cardinal Newman
* In the 1-0 victory on Tuesday against Liberty, Millard tallied an assist on Navy's only goal in the game where Jacob Williams earned the game-winning tally for the Midshipmen.

Jacob Williams, Navy, So., F, Millersville, Md./Old Mill
* Williams finished the week with three points with a goal and an assist as the Midshipmen went 2-0-0 this week. Williams tallied the only goal for Navy is 1-0 victory against Liberty, followed by an assist in the 2-0 win at Loyola.
