Patriot League Announces 112 Named to the Field Hockey Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League’s seven field hockey programs combined to place 112 student-athletes on the 2019 Patriot League Field Hockey Academic Honor Roll when the League released the list on Wednesday. 
 
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s seven fall championship sports, including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
 
Bucknell placed a League-high 19 student-athletes on the academic honor roll while League champion American, and runner-up Lafayette had 18 apiece. Boston University, Colgate, and Holy Cross each placed 16 on the honor roll while Lehigh added nine to help the League improve by 10 members from 2018.
 
All 11 members of the 2019 Academic All-Patriot League Field Hockey team made the honor roll, including 2019 Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete and Defensive Player of the Year Lisa van der Geest (Lafayette, Sr., D). Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Noor Coenen (American, Jr., M), goalkeeper of the year Olivia Harris (Bucknell, Sr., GK) and rookie of the year Jodie Conolly (Boston University, Fr., M) all made the academic honor roll.
 
Overall, 20 of the 24 members of the 2019 All-Patriot League field hockey first- and second-teams made the academic honor roll.
 
Seven student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA or better during the fall semester, including Bucknell junior Kaelyn Long, senior Marisa Morakis and senior Chloe Poltonavage, Colgate junior Katie Anderson and Campbell Matheis, Lafayette senior Cameron Costello and Lehigh senior Amanda Boyer
