ABOUT THE EAGLES: The Eagles welcome back a pair of 2019 All-League selections in junior attacker Emma Vinall and junior midfielder Kendall Goldblum. A preseason All-League honoree, Vinall (52g, 13a, 65p) broke the Eagles’ program record with 65 points in 2019 to finish sixth in the League (3.82 ppg). She also ranked fourth in the League in goals (3.06 gpg). Goldblum (37g, 9a, 46p) is American’s returning leader in draw controls, having won 57 last season. She was third on the team with 28 ground balls while contributing to an AU offense that averaged 11.0 goals per game. Junior Cate Golden returns on defense after leading the Eagles’ with 18 caused turnovers along with 19 ground balls. Sophomore defender Ashley Go finished with 21 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers during her first season at AU. The Eagles were selected to finish eighth in the preseason poll and will be under the direction of Interim Head Coach Maureen Breslin, who will be in her first season with the program.

ABOUT THE BLACK KNIGHTS: Head Coach Kristen Skiera led Army West Point to its first trip to the postseason in 2019 and enter this season with even higher expectations with a fourth-place finish in the 2020 preseason poll. The Black Knights’ had a program-high four student-athletes selected to the 2020 Preseason All-Patriot League Team, including senior attacker Jackie Brattan (63g, 2a, 65p), who led the Patriot League in goals per game (3.32) and was among the League leaders in draw controls (105). Sophomore attacker Caroline Raymond, the 2019 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, posted a team-leading 67 points during her freshman campaign on 43 goals and 24 assists. Senior midfielder Samantha Stewart (38g, 21a, 59p) was a vital cog in the Black Knights’ offense in addition to leading the team in ground balls (38) and finishing third in draw controls (79). Senior goalkeeper Maddie Burns was a second-team All-League selection last season after finishing third in the League in both goals-against average (11.10) and save percentage (.458).

ABOUT THE TERRIERS: Head Coach Lauren Morton begins her second season at the helm of the Terriers’ program after advancing to the Patriot League Tournament Semifinals in 2019. Boston University was selected to finish third in the 2020 preseason poll with a pair of preseason All-League honorees in senior attacker Kailey Conry and junior midfielder Emily Vervlied. Conry (25g, 55a, 80p), a three-time All-League selection, who is third among Patriot League career assists leaders (152) led NCAA DI with 3.67 assists per game in 2019 while placing third in the League with 5.33 points per game. Vervlied (30g, 9a, 39p) finished among the League leaders with 28 caused turnovers and picked up 33 ground balls and 18 draw controls in 2019. Senior midfielder Lexi Lewis (25g, 10a, 35p, 35gb) also returns after a productive 2019 season.

ABOUT THE BISON: The Bison begin a new era in 2020 under Head Coach Jackie Dando, but she will have the squad’s top five scorers back in the fold, including junior attacker Eve Calabria (14g, 20a, 34p), senior attacker Tegan Warren (19g, 10a, 29p), senior midfielder Morgan Steinhacker (24g, 2a, 26p), senior attacker Lillie Hunt (6g, 15a, 21p) and junior midfielder Julia Bradbury (16g, 3a, 19p). Senior defender and team captain Jessie Britton picked up 26 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers and will be counted on to lead a Bison defense that lost a pair of All-League honorees to graduation in goalkeeper Jamisen DeWitt and defender Callie DeWitt. The Bison finished tied for ninth in the 2020 Patriot League Preseason Poll.

ABOUT THE RAIDERS: Head Coach Kathy Taylor takes the reins of the Colgate women’s lacrosse program after a highly-decorated tenure at Le Moyne, where she led the program to a 2018 NCAA DII National Championship. Taylor and the Raiders return junior midfielder Danielle Van Calcar, a 2020 preseason All-League selection, who finished with 41 points on 28 goals and 13 assists, to go along with 55 draw controls last season. Senior midfielder Noelle Patterson also returns after leading the Raiders with 38 goals and 57 draw controls in 2019. Senior defender Ingrid Backe picked up 25 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers last season and will work to solidify a defensive unit in front of senior goalkeeper Samantha Croston, who posted a 12.57 goals-against average and .443 save percentage last season. Colgate was selected to finish sixth in the 2020 Patriot League Preseason Poll.

ABOUT THE CRUSADERS: Head Coach Amanda Belichick begins her fifth season leading the Holy Cross women’s lacrosse program that welcomes back five of its top six scorers from the 2019 season. Sophomore attacker Jolie Creo (27g, 10a, 37p) led the Crusaders in points during her freshman season and finished among the team leaders with 23 ground balls. Senior midfielder Bryn Carroll was second on the squad with 26 goals and 37 draw controls while senior attacker Maggie Moriarty posted a team-high 19 assists. Junior midfielder Audrey Mandaro finished among the team’s leaders with 22 ground balls, 20 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers. Senior goalkeeper Juliana Kubler posted a .447 save percentage with 113 saves for a team that was picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll.

ABOUT THE LEOPARDS: Head Coach Katie McConnell begins her first season at Lafayette with a squad that was picked to finish tied for ninth in the Patriot League after graduating seven starters, including three of their four points’ leaders and three defenders from 2019. Junior attacker Anna Stein (17g, 20a, 37p) was third on the squad in points a year ago while leading the Leopards in assists. Senior midfielder and team co-captain Bella Alampi is tied with Stein as Lafayette’s returning leader in goals, after scoring 17 goals a season ago. Junior attacker Colleen Bannon (11g, 4a, 15p) and sophomore attacker Olivia Cunningham (14g, 5a, 19p) bring production back to the Lafayette offense. Junior goalkeeper Quinn Lacey is back after finishing with 171 saves and a .443 save percentage to go along with a team-best 42 ground balls last year. Sophomore defender Lily Bedell (23gb, 10ct) is back after starting all 17 games as a freshman.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS: Head Coach Jill Redfern’s squad played its best lacrosse of the 2019 season in April and will look to carry the momentum of its 4-2 finish into the 2020 season. Preseason All-League senior midfielder Sondra Dickey, a two-time all-region selection, returns after finishing among the League leaders in goals (53), points (67), draw controls (78) and caused turnovers (28). Junior midfielder Hannah Cermack (13g, 24a, 37p), who finished among the League’s assists leaders in 2019, is also back for the Mountain Hawks. Junior defender Alexandra Ladda picked up 18 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers to earn All-League honors last season and will be back to match up with opposing team’s top offensive threats. Junior goalkeeper Samantha Sagi is also back after leading the Patriot League in save percentage (.477) and finishing second in saves per game (9.94).

ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS: Head Coach Jen Adams begins her 12th season at Loyola Maryland atop the preseason poll after guiding the program to its fourth Patriot League title in six years and second-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Greyhounds will begin the 2020 season ranked No. 11 in the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse Preseason Polls and No. 15 in the US Lacrosse Poll with junior attacker Livy Rosenzweig (46g, 70a, 116p) garnering Preseason All-America honors. Rosenzweig’s 70 assists in 2019 was the second-highest single-season total in Patriot League history while her 117 is sixth all-time in the League. The Greyhounds will return plenty of firepower on offense with junior midfielders Sam Fiedler (53g, 26a, 79p) and Elli Kluegel (35g, 5a, 40p), both preseason All-League selections. Sophomore defender Katie Detwiler also earned a spot on the preseason All-League squad after picking up 24 ground balls and causing 12 turnovers as a vital member of a Loyola Maryland defense that held opponents to a League-low 9.10 goals per game. Loyola Maryland has won 52 consecutive regular-season League games since joining the Patriot League before the 2014 season.

ABOUT THE MIDSHIPMEN: Head Coach Cindy Timchal enters her 13th season at the helm of Navy women’s lacrosse program, coming off a runner-up finish in the Patriot League and third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Senior attacker Kelly Larkin (69g, 52a, 121p), the 2020 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, became the League’s career leader in points (346) and the first women’s lacrosse student-athlete to tally 100 points in three-consecutive seasons in 2019. She will have plenty of offensive threats around her this season, including preseason All-League senior midfielder Kayla Harris (37g, 14a, 51p) and junior attacker Nicole Victory (32g, 31a, 63p). Senior midfielder Annalise Heyward (34g, 16a, 50p) finished among the League leaders with 44 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers and received 2020 Preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year recognition. Sophomore midfielder Reagan Roelofs (24g, 11a, 35p) returns after leading the League with 146 draw controls during her rookie campaign. The Midshipmen also have high preseason expectations, finishing second in the League’s preseason poll in addition to ranking No. 15 by the IWLCA, No. 16 by US Lacrosse and No. 17 by Inside Lacrosse.
