Patriot League Golfers of the Week Announced (3.4.20)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Loyola Maryland junior Evan Brown received his second-consecutive Patriot League Men’s Golfer of the Week, and Boston University freshman Kristen Min Ju Kim and Navy junior Christine McDonnell shared women’s co-golfer of the week honors when the League office announced weekly awards on Wednesday.
 
Brown collected the sixth men’s golfer of the week of his career by carding an 11-under par 205 (66-69-70) to finish second at the 54-hole Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club – North Course.
 
Kim and McDonnell tied for 19th-place out of 264 competitors at the 54-hole Kiawah Island Classic with scores of 3-under par 219.
 
Bucknell sophomore Morgan Hennessy received an honorable mention for her play during the last week of competition.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Evan Brown, Loyola Maryland, Jr., Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett
*Brown shot an 11-under par 205 (66-69-70) to finish second in the 54-hole Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate at the par-72 Fort Lauderdale Country Club.
*The junior’s first-round 66 came during a round where the average score was 75.01.
*The Kennett Square, Pa. native finished second for the second-consecutive tournament while recording his third top-five finish of the year.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
Kristen Min Ju Kim, Boston University, Fr., Seoul, South Korea/Sonora (Calif.)
*Kim shot a 3-over par 219 (71-75-73) to tie for 19th-place in a 264-competitor field at the 54-hole Kiawah Island Classic at the par-72 Osprey Point Golf Club.
*She helped the Terriers to a third-place team finish out of 53 teams with a program-record team score of 871.
 
Christine McDonnell, Navy, Jr., Suwanee, Ga./Lambert
*McDonnell shot a 3-over par 219 (68-76-75) to tie for 19th-place in a 264-competitor field at the 54-hole Kiawah Island Classic at the par-72 Osprey Point Golf Club.
*She turned in a 4-under par 68 in the first round, tying for the lowest round in Navy women’s golf history.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Morgan Hennessy, Bucknell, So., Bronxville, N.Y./Sacred Heart (Conn.)
*Hennessy shot a 22-over par 238 (84-77-77) at the 54-hole Kiawah Island Classic at the par-72 Osprey Point Golf Club. The sophomore broke 80 in collegiate competition for the first time, doing it twice during the tournament.
