Patriot League Announces Women’s Soccer Academic Honors (11.2.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Navy senior midfielder Victoria Tran earned the 2021 Patriot League Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolade, when it was announced by the League office on Tuesday. Tran, who also won the Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor in this past spring, is also one of the 11 members of the sport's Academic All-Patriot League team.

Eight of the 10 Patriot League programs are represented on the academic all-League squad, with Loyola Maryland leading the way with three student-athletes on the team. Seven of the 11 student-athletes selected to the academic all-League squad were also named to the All-Patriot League teams last week, including Tran and the 2021 goalkeeper of the year, Loyola junior Paige Sim (Biochemistry, 3.94). The 2021 Patriot League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year Bucknell junior forward Rylee Donaldson (Political Science, 3.62) and midfielder of the year Hannah Pinkus (Sociology & Political Science, 3.58) also garnered a spot on the academic team.
 
American senior forward Tate Jordan (Public Relations & Strategic Comms, 3.63), Boston University junior midfielder Julianna Stureman (Business Admin and Management, 3.90), Lafayette senior midfielder Sophia Hudson (Economics, 3.97), Lehigh senior forward/midfielder Courtney Supp (Finance, 3.90), Loyola senior forward Sarah Bayer (Speech Pathology, 3.95) and sophomore defender Chloe Kuminkoski (Biochemistry, 4.00), and Navy sophomore midfielder Chloe Dawson (Robotics & Control Engineering, 4.00).
 
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player within his/her sport. Freshmen or student-athletes in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out during the summer.

* Tran owns a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an honors robotics and control engineering major at Navy.
* The 2020-21 spring women's soccer scholar-athlete of the year, ranks seventh in the Naval Academy's Class of 2022 in Overall Order of Merit and ninth in Military Order of Merit.
* In 2020-21, she was a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-American First-Team and the United Soccer Coaches Women's Soccer Scholar All-America Second-Team.
* Tran was recently named to the 2021 All-Patriot League First-Team to become a four-time all-League honoree.
