BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Navy junior guard Jennifer Coleman was named the Patriot League GEICO Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while Holy Cross guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy received rookie of the week honors for the second-straight week when the League office announced the results on Tuesday.
Boston University sophomore guard Maggie Pina, Lafayette senior forward Natalie Kucowski and Navy freshman forward Morganne Andrews earned honorable mention recognition.
The Patriot League Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
Patriot League Player of the Week
Jennifer Coleman, Navy, Jr., G, Richmond, Va. /Highland Springs
* Coleman led Navy to a weekend sweep of Loyola Maryland, averaging 20.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 62.1 percent (18-29) from the field.
* The junior went for 25 points and 15 rebounds in the Mids' 69-60 win on Saturday, and then scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds on 7-10 shooting in Navy's Sunday 50-46 victory.
* Coleman has recorded double-doubles in four straight games and six of seven games during the 2020-21 season.
Patriot League Rookie of the Week
Bronagh Power-Cassidy, Holy Cross, Fr., G, Dublin, Ireland/Marianapolis Prep
* Power-Cassidy was the Crusaders' leading scorer in a victory over Colgate on Saturday, recording 13 points along with five rebounds and four assists.
* The freshman has been Holy Cross' leading scorer in three games this season and has scored in double figures six times this year, including three of the last four games.
Honorable Mentions
Maggie Pina, Boston University, So., G, West Chester, Pa. /Academy of Notre Dame de Namur
* Pina scored in double figures in each game against Army West Point, helping the Terriers sweep the Black Knights and match its best start in program history at 8-1.
* Pina led all scorers on Saturday with 15 points on a 6-11 shooting clip, including 3-6 mark from 3-point range. She followed with 11 points on 5-10 shooting on Sunday.
Natalie Kucowski, Lafayette, Sr., F, Philadelphia, Pa. /St. Basil Academy
* Kucowski recorded 36 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and one steal in 39 minutes of action on Wednesday in Lafayette’s win over Loyola Maryland to complete the season sweep.
* Her 36 points was a career-high and is the most points scored by a Patriot League Women’s Basketball student-athlete so far this season
Morganne Andrews, Navy, Fr., F, Martinsburg, W. Va. /Martinsburg
* Andrews led Navy's bench players with 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over the Mids' weekend sweep of Loyola. Andrews tallied seven rebounds in 14 minutes on Saturday before coming back on Sunday and netting a career-high 9 points to go along with four rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
