BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior quarterback Connor Degenhardt threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes, and the Crusaders’ defense kept the Mountain Hawks out of the end zone, as defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross opened the 2021 spring season with a 20-3 win over Lehigh.
*Degenhardt completed 14-of-24 passes for 91 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Junior running back Jonathan Abrams carried eight times for a game-high 62 yards for the Crusaders.
*Holy Cross senior defensive lineman Jordan Jackson finished with five tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss (TFLs), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble, while junior defensive lineman Dan Kuznetsov had seven tackles and 1.5 sacks.
*Lehigh sophomore defensive back TyGee Leach finished with a game-high nine tackles, 2.0 TFLs and an interception. Senior linebacker Pete Haffner added eight tackles, 3.0 TFLs, 1.0 sack and a fumble recovery.
*Holy Cross capitalized on a pair of first-half turnovers. Degenhardt threw a four-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Dean Nagle after the Crusaders recovered a fumble at Lehigh’s six-yard line with 2:56 left in the first quarter.
*Sophomore wide receiver Ayir Asante was the recipient of a 14-yard Degenhardt touchdown pass at the 12:37 mark in the second quarter that came after Holy Cross junior defensive back John Smith intercepted a pass at the Lehigh 33-yard line.
*Junior placekicker Derek Ng connected on a 42-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining in the first half and a 51-yard field goal with 3:28 remaining in the third quarter to give Holy Cross a 20-3 win. Ng’s 51-yard field goal is four yards shy of the League record of 55 set by Fordham’s Patrick Murray in 2012.
*Lehigh sophomore placekicker Dylan Van Dusen hit a 20-yard field goal at the 7:54 mark in the first quarter to open the scoring, after Leach’s interception gave the Mountain Hawks the ball at the Crusaders’ six-yard line.

EASTON, Pa. – Junior tight end Steven Stilianos caught two touchdown passes to lead Lafayette to a 24-10 victory over Colgate in Saturday’s season-opener at Fisher Stadium.
*Lafayette senior quarterback Cole Northrup completed 9-of-14 passes for 141 yards and one of the two touchdown passes. Senior wide receiver Quinn Revere also threw a 28-yard touchdown pass on his lone pass attempt, while leading the Leopards with 67 receiving yards on three catches.
*Sophomore running back Jaden Sutton carried 21 times for 90 yards and a touchdown and senior running back Selwyn Simpson added 66 yards on 19 carries for a Leopards’ offense that compiled 340 yards of total offense.
*Junior defensive lineman Malik Hamm finished with seven tackles, 1.0 TFL and a pass breakup. Junior linebacker Billy Shaeffer had six tackles and 1.5 TFLs and sophomore defensive back recorded his first collegiate interception.
*Colgate senior quarterback Grant Breneman completed 19-of-31 passes for 237 yards and an interception, while rushing for a team-leading 15 yards on four carries.
*Junior wide receiver Joshua Szott had five catches for 57 yards and junior wide receiver Garrett Oakey had four receptions for 55 yards for the Raiders.
*Raiders’ junior linebacker Milton Braasch II and junior defensive back Collin Heard each posted eight tackles and 1.0 TFL, while sophomore linebacker Prince Ekwughalu added six tackles and 1.0 sack.
*Lafayette took a 14-0 lead in the first half behind a five-yard touchdown run from Sutton, and Revere’s touchdown pass to Stilianos.
*The Raiders answered in the second half, as freshman placekicker Jacob Jaworski hit a 32-yard field goal with 3:51 remaining in the third quarter.
*Senior quarterback Jake Froschauer rushed into the end zone from one-yard out at the 11:44 mark in the fourth quarter to bring Colgate within four points, at 14-10.
*The Leopards answered, as Northrup found Stilianos in the end zone to cap a 10-play, 75-yard drive.
*Senior placekicker Jeffrey Kordenbrock’s 25-yard field goal with 4:13 remaining in the game sealed Lafayette’s 24-10 win.
