INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 14 Colgate fell to No. 3-seed Arkansas, 85-68, in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
Senior guard Jack Ferguson scored 11 first-half points to lead the Raiders to a 33-19 by the 5:30 mark in the first half, but the Razorbacks responded, using a 17-0 run to take a 36-33 advantage into the break.
Arkansas outscored Colgate, 49-35, in the second half despite Patriot League Player of the Year Jordan Burns scoring all of his 13 points during the final frame. The Razorbacks will take on No. 6 Texas Tech, who defeated No. 11 Utah State in the first round.
The Patriot League Champion Raiders, who played their second NCAA Tournament game in three seasons and fourth all-time, concluded the 2020-21 season 14-2 overall, having its 13-game win streak snapped by the Razorbacks.

INDIANAPOLIS – Junior guard Nelly Cummings led four Raiders in double-figures with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range, but No. 14 Colgate could not hold on to an early 14-point lead in an 85-68 loss to No. 3 Arkansas in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
*Colgate used a hot start to take a 33-19 lead by the 5:30 mark in the first half. The Razorbacks responded, ending the frame on a 17-0 run, taking a 36-33 advantage into halftime, and never trailing again.
*Colgate senior guard Jack Ferguson did his damage in the first half, connecting on 3-of-6 from beyond the arc for 11 points off the bench to go along with six rebounds.
*Senior guard Jordan Burns, the Patriot League Player of the Year and Championship MVP, scored all 13 of his points in the second half to go along with four assists and two steals for the Raiders.
*Freshman center Jeff Woodward added 11 points off the bench while junior guard Tucker Richardson finished with nine points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Junior forward Keegan Records pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
*Colgate, who entered the Tournament third in NCAA DI in 3-point field goal percentage, shot 44.4 percent (12-for-27) from long distance but were undone by 22 turnovers.
*Burns joined 2019-20 Patriot League Player of the Year Sa’eed Nelson of American as the only two Patriot League men’s basketball players to eclipse 1,600 points and 500 assists. Burns is 19th in Patriot League history with 1,669 points and 11th with 503 assists.
