Micah Oh (Sr., Kent, Wash.) has been selected as the 2020-21 recipient of the NCAA's ELITE 90 Award for men's swimming and diving. Oh was presented with his award Friday night during the NCAA Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
The ELITE 90, an award established by the NCAA during the 2009-10 academic year, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships across all divisions.
Nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically in the sport for which they are being nominated, and in at least his or her second year (in any sport) at his or her current institution. Only undergraduate GPA is applicable.
Oh is the first Navy recipient, the first from a service academy to earn the award, the second to garner the laurel from a Patriot League sponsored sport (Chris Myers, Loyola, men's lacrosse, 2015-16) and the third from a Patriot League school to receive the nod (Daniel Mitchell, American, wrestling, 2011-12).
An honors applied mathematics major, Oh has compiled a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average. He was named a 2019-20 First-Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America in the at-large sports category and was selected as the 2020 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his sport.
In the pool, Oh was named the 2020 Patriot League Swimmer of the Year, is a two-time (2019, '20) First-Team All-Patriot League honoree and is competing at the first NCAA Championship of his career this week.
