Patriot League Announces Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (4.12.21)

Lehigh collected three weekly honors and Army West Point picked up two

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh received three of the five Patriot League women’s lacrosse weekly honors when the League office announced them on Monday. Army West Point collected the other two weekly awards
 
Lehigh graduate student midfielder Sondra Dickey picked up Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Midfielder of the Week for the fourth time this season after totaling five points on four goals and one assist to go along with four caused turnovers in a 12-7 victory over No. 21 Navy to claim the No. 2 seed in the South Division for the Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
 
Lehigh senior midfielder Hannah Cermack finished with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls to receive defensive player of the week honors. Senior goalkeeper Samantha Sagi earned goalkeeper of the week after making nine saves and allowing seven goals in the win against the Mids.
 
Army West Point senior attacker Jackie Brattan earned Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Attacker of the Week for the first time this season. She set a single-game program record with eight goals and matched a single-game mark with nine points in an 18-11 victory over Lafayette. Freshman midfielder Madeline Lenkart earned rookie of the week honors with her two-goal performance against the Leopards.
 
Army West Point senior defender Beth Hofmann, Bucknell junior midfielder Emma Cashwell, Lafayette junior attacker Olivia Cunningham, Lehigh sophomore attacker Katia Carnevale, Navy junior midfielder Gil Eby and junior attacker Reagan Roelofs all received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
Jackie Brattan, Army West Point, Sr., Attacker, Garden City, N.Y./Garden City
*Brattan scored a single-game program record eight goals and matched a single-game program record with nine points in Army West Point’s 18-11 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.
*The senior attacker moved into first-place in program history with 118 career goals.
*She went 2-for-3 on free position attempts and had five draw controls for the Black Knights.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Sondra Dickey, Lehigh, Gr., Midfielder, Paoli, Pa./Conestoga
*Dickey totaled five points on four goals and one assist in Lehigh’s 12-7 victory over No. 21 Navy to clinch the No. 2 seed in the South Division for the Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
*She scored three consecutive goals in the second half to turn a 7-6 deficit into a 9-7 lead, one they would not relinquish.
*She finished with three draw controls, three ground balls and a game-high four caused turnovers, moving her into second place in program history with 96 caused turnovers.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hannah Cermack, Lehigh, Sr., Midfielder, Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood
*Cermack finished with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls to help limit Navy to seven goals in a 12-7 victory over the Mids.
*She was part of a Mountain Hawks’ defense that limited Navy to 20 shots, despite the Mids holding a 14-7 advantage on draw controls.
*She caused a turnover late in the game with the Mountain Hawks leading by two goals to help preserve the victory.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Samantha Sagi, Lehigh, Sr., Goalkeeper, Elkridge, Md./Howard
*Sagi made nine saves and allowed seven goals in Lehigh’s 12-7 victory over No. 21 Navy to clinch the No. 2 seed in the South Division in the Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
*She made three saves and allowed two goals after halftime to help the Mountain Hawks outscore the Mids 7-2 in the second half.
*She owns a 10.58 goals-against average and .477 save percentage this season.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Madeline Lenkart, Army West Point, Fr, Midfielder, Gambrills, Md./South River
*Lenkart scored two goals on two shots to help Army West Point to an 18-11 victory over Lafayette.
*The freshman midfielder scored her first goal during the Black Knights’ game-opening 7-0 run. She added the final goal of the game.
*She also won two draw controls and picked up one ground ball in the win.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Beth Hofmann, Army West Point, Sr., Defender, Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley
*Hofmann picked up a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover in Army West Point’s 18-11 victory over Lafayette. She keyed a Black Knights’ defensive effort that held the Leopards to 20 shots.
 
Emma Cashwell, Bucknell, Jr., Midfielder, Garden City, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy
*Cashwell finished with team-highs of four goals and six draw controls to lead Bucknell to a 13-11 victory over Colgate. She added three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the Bison win.  
 
Olivia Cunningham, Lafayette, Jr., Attacker, Villanova, Pa./Episcopal Academy
*Cunningham scored a career-high seven goals in Lafayette’s loss to Army West Point. Her seven goals were the most by a Leopards’ student-athlete since 2017.
 
Katia Carnevale, Lehigh, So., Attacker, Summit, N.J./Summit
*Carnevale scored six goals to lead Lehigh to a 12-7 victory over No. 21 Navy to clinch the No. 2 seed in the South Division for the Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championships. She also picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover.
 
Reagan Roelofs, Navy, Jr., Attacker, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley
*Roelofs totaled three goals, 22 draw controls, four ground balls and one caused turnover in losses to No. 18 Drexel and Lehigh last week. The junior attacker had a season-best 12 draw controls against the Dragons and a game-high 10 against the Mountain Hawks.  
 
Gil Eby, Navy, Jr., Midfielder, Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep
*Eby totaled six goals, three draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers in losses to No. 18 Drexel and Lehigh last week. She posted a hat trick in each game and added three draw controls, two ground balls and three caused turnovers against the Mountain Hawks.
