BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Navy junior midfielder Victoria Tran earned the 2020-21 Patriot League Spring Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolade, when it was announced by the League office on Friday. She is also one of the 11 members of the sport's Academic All-Patriot League team.
Eight of the 10 Patriot League programs are represented on the academic all-League squad. Six of the 11 student-athletes selected to the academic all-League squad were also named to the All-Patriot League teams on Tuesday, including Tran, Colgate senior forward Ellis Miller, Lafayette senior forward Krista Kissell, Loyola Maryland junior forward Sarah Bayer and sophomore goalkeeper Paige Sim, and Navy senior midfielder Kristina Dzhandzhapanyan.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player within his/her sport. Freshmen or student-athletes in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out during the summer.
2020-21 Spring Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Victoria Tran, Navy, Jr., M, Clarksville, Md./River Hill
* Tran owns a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an honors robotics and control engineering major at Navy.
* In 2019, she was a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-American Third-Team, the CoSIDA Academic All-District II First-Team, and the Patriot League All-Academic Team.
* She has been named to the USNA's Dant's and/or Dean's List in all five semesters.
* Tran was recently named the 2020-21 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and to the All-League first-team after scoring three goals and dishing two assists for eight points this season.
