HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate slipped to 0-2 to start the 2021 season in a 24-3 loss to Stony Brook in the Raiders’ home opener at Andy Kerr Stadium.
*Colgate senior quarterback Grant Breneman completed 11-of-23 passes for 122 yards and an interception while rushing for 31 yards on 11 carries.
*Senior wide receiver Garrett Oakey caught six passes for a team-high 71 yards, and junior wide receiver Myles Bradley had four catches for 64 yards for the Raiders.
*Senior linebacker Milton Braasch II finished with a game-high 11 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss (TFLs). Junior linebacker Tyler Flick added eight tackles.
*The Raiders scored first on sophomore placekicker Jacob Jaworski’s 35-yard field goal at the 5:06 mark in the first quarter. But it was the last offense Colgate could muster in the loss.
*Colgate hosts William & Mary next Saturday, with live coverage on ESPN+ beginning at 1 p.m.

DOVER, Del. – Junior running back Joshua Stakely’s five-yard touchdown run lifted Georgetown to a 20-14 overtime victory over Delaware State in the program’s first game since November 2019.
*The Hoyas game-winning opportunity was set up when senior linebacker Justin Fonteneaux blocked a Delaware State field goal attempt on the Hornets’ first possession in the extra frame. Stakely carried four times for 25 yards to win the game.
*Hoyas’ senior quarterback Joseph Brunell completed 18-of-32 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
*Senior wide receiver Cameron Crayton had four catches for 72 yards, including a 36-yard game-tying touchdown reception at the 9:13 mark in the third quarter.
*Graduate student defensive back Ahmad Wilson and Fonteneaux each had 12 tackles and one TFL. Fonteneaux also had an interception in the second quarter.
*The Hornets scored twice early in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead, but the Hoyas answered with four seconds remaining in the half on Brunell’s 17-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Sergio Portobanco.
*GU tied the score in the third quarter on Brunell’s touchdown pass to Crayton, with neither team able to score before the end of regulation.
*Georgetown returns to action next Saturday when they host Harvard at Cooper Field. Live coverage on ESPN+ begins at 12:30 p.m.

RICHMOND, Va. – Lehigh fell victim to a 28-point second quarter by No. 22/25 Richmond in a 31-3 loss to the Spiders at E. Claiborne Robins Stadium on Saturday.
*Sophomore linebacker Liam McIntyre recorded a team-high nine tackles and one TFL, while sophomore cornerback LaTreil Wimberly and freshman safety Logan Jones had eight tackles apiece.
*The Mountain Hawks took an early 3-0 lead after a four-play, 45-yard drive, capped by a 42-yard field goal by junior placekicker Dylan Van Dusen. But the Spiders scored four unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter.
*Lehigh’s defense held Richmond to one field goal after halftime.
*Senior quarterback Alec Beesmer rushed for 65 yards on 10 carries, and freshman running back Gaige Garcia added 43 yards on six carries. Sophomore wide receiver Eric Johnson caught two passes for 47 yards for the Mountain Hawks.

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior wide receiver Spencer Gilliam caught a pair of touchdown passes, but Holy Cross fell to Merrimack, 35-21, on Saturday afternoon at Fitton Field.
*Gilliam caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Matthew Sluka in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead, but the Warriors answered with three second-quarter touchdowns and never looked back.
*Crusaders freshman running back Jordan Fuller scored his first collegiate touchdown on a one-yard plunge in the third quarter to cut Merrimack’s lead in half, making it 28-14.
*After another Warriors’ score, sophomore quarterback Marco Siderman threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Gilliam, who finished with four catches for 65 yards.
*Sluka completed 11-of-20 passes for 137 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while Siderman completed 3-of-4 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown for the Crusaders.
*Holy Cross junior running back Tyler Purdy caught three passes for 66 yards and carried seven times for 52 yards.
*Junior linebacker Jacob Dobbs posted a game-high 18 tackles, and senior defensive back Walter Reynolds added 10 tackles and one TFL in the loss.
*Senior linebacker Liam Anderson and senior defensive back John Smith each recorded an interception. Smith has one interception in five of the Crusaders’ last six games.
*Holy Cross travels to Yale next Saturday for a noon kickoff on ESPN+.

BRONX, N.Y. – Senior quarterback Tim DeMorat completed 27-of-49 passes for 352 yards and three touchdown passes, two to junior wide receiver Dequece Carter, but it was not enough to overcome Monmouth in a 26-23 loss at Jack Coffey Field on Saturday night.
*Carter finished with five catches for 97 yards, and senior wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis had five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown for the Rams.
*Senior linebacker Ryan Greenhagen followed up his record-setting single-game tackles performance at Nebraska with 28 tackles and one TFL against the Hawks. His 28-tackle performance tied the second-highest single-game total in Patriot League history. Last week, Greenhagen set the NCAA record with 31 stops.
*Freshman linebacker James Conway finished with eight tackles and his first collegiate interception.
*A 27-yard field goal by senior placekicker Nick Leinenweber and DeMorat’s first touchdown pass to Carter put the Rams in front, 10-7, with 3:38 remaining in the second quarter.
*Monmouth ended the first half with a touchdown and opened the third quarter with another to take control of the game.
*Kokosioulis caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from DeMorat late in the third quarter, but Monmouth returned the two-point extra-point attempt for 100 yards to take a 23-16 lead.
*After a field goal from the Hawks, Carter caught his second touchdown pass to close the deficit to three points with 5:01 remaining in the game, but the Rams were held scoreless the rest of the way.
*Fordham’s offense finished with 469 yards of total offense for an average of 6.09 yards per play.
*The Rams travel to Florida Atlantic next Saturday for a 6 p.m. game against the Owls on ESPN3.

*Bison freshman defensive lineman Jack Barnes posted a team-high seven tackles and a half-tackle for loss. Freshman defensive back John Schlendorf added six tackles and a half-tackle for loss.

*Freshman placekicker Micah Pettit put the Leopards on the board in the fourth quarter with his first collegiate field goal.
*Sophomore quarterback Rent Montie completed passes to eight different receivers, finishing 24-of-41 passes for 188 yards and two interceptions for the Leopards.
*Lafayette junior running back Jaden Sutton finished with three catches for a team-leading 44 yards. He also carried seven times for 39 yards.
*Junior wide receiver Julius had four catches for 42 yards, while classmate Joe Gillette had a team-high six catches for 29 yards.
*Senior linebacker Major Jordan finished with a game-high 10 tackles, junior linebacker Marco Olivas had eight tackles and a pass breakup and senior defensive lineman Malik Hamm added seven tackles.
