Army Snaps Bucknell’s Winning Streak
Army West Point snapped Bucknell’s eight-game winning streak with a 69-62 win this past Sunday. Army senior guard Alisa Fallon (24 pts, 11 rebs) and junior forward Sabria Hunter (12 pts, 14 rebs) recorded double-doubles in the win. This was Hunter’s sixth double-double of the season while it was Fallon’s second. Senior forward Kate Murray contributed 19 points, six boards and five assists.
Leopards Earn First Victory At Colgate Since ‘14
The Lafayette Leopards started their 2021-22 League schedule with a 59-37 win over Colgate last Wednesday, to mark the program’s first victory in Hamilton since 2014. Senior guard/forward Makaila Wilson posted team-highs in points (13) and rebounds (8). Sophomore guard Makayla Andrews scored 11 points while teammate senior forward Naomi Ganpo scored 10 points.
Lafayette Women’s Basketball Game vs. Holy Cross Postponed (1.3)
The Patriot League women’s basketball game between Lafayette and Holy Cross, scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 5, has been postponed due to COVID protocols within the Lafayette women’s basketball program. The contest between the Leopards and Crusaders will be rescheduled following discussions with the two schools and the League office.

Navy's Jennifer Coleman leads the League in points per game (23.8), rebounds per game (10.2), assists per game (4.8), steals per game (3.2) and minutes per game (38.3). Bucknell’s Taylor O’Brien is averaging 18.8 points per game, while Lehigh’s Makenzie Kramer is scoring 16.3 points per game. Army West Point's Sabria Hunter sits second in rebounds per game with 10.1, followed by Loyola Maryland’s Lex Therien (9.4) and Lehigh’s Emma Grothaus (8.8). As a team, Lehigh is scoring an average of 76.5 points per game, followed by Army West Point (67.1) and Bucknell (64.0). The Black Knights lead the League in offensive rebounds per game (15.8), followed by Holy Cross (12.7). The Mountain Hawks are No. 1 in the League in defensive rebounds with 28.5 per game while Holy Cross (26.5) comes in second.
Patriot League GEICO Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards (1.3)
Army West Point senior guard Alisa Fallon was named the Patriot League GEICO Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while Boston University freshman guard Alex Giannaros received rookie of the week honors. Fallon averaged 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds to go along with a .480 field-goal percentage in a 1-1 week for Army. In Sunday’s 69-62 victory over Bucknell, she recorded her second double-double of the season with a season-high of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Giannaros led Boston in scoring with a career-high 18 points as the Terriers defeated Navy (82-58) in their Patriot League opener. The freshman finished 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from deep while 12 of her points came in the first half.
Patriot League Ranks Among NCAA Leaders in Graduate Rate Report
The Patriot League recorded a 96 percent graduate success rate (GSR) and an 86 percent federal graduation rate (FGR) in data released by the NCAA on Thursday. The League ranked among the top-two NCAA Division I conferences in both academic success measures for student-athletes. Patriot League women’s basketball programs recorded the best FGR score (94) among NCAA Division I conferences, with Colgate and Lehigh posting perfect scores. The League’s women’s basketball programs finished 17th with a GSR score of 95 percent. Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Loyola Maryland registered perfect GSR scores.
CBS Sports Network to Air Four League WBB Games
Four Patriot League women’s basketball games will be televised on CBS Sports Network during the 2021-22 season, including the women’s championship game. The television schedule tips off when American plays at Bucknell on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. before Navy hosts Army on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. Navy travels to Army on Saturday, Feb. 12. The Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship will also be televised on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, March 13, at noon.
