Fordham’s Greenhagen and Holy Cross’s Oliver Named Finalists for 2022 William V. Campbell Trophy

Greenhagen and Oliver recognized among 15 finalists for Academic Heisman

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fordham graduate student linebacker Ryan Greenhagen and Holy Cross senior running back Peter Oliver were named among the 15 finalists for the 2022 William V. Campbell Trophy when the list was released by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
 
The Patriot League is one of two conferences with multiple finalists for the 2022 William V. Campbell Trophy, along with the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
 
The William V. Campbell Trophy is presented annually to college football’s premier scholar-athlete, recognizing an individual for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.  The 15 finalists will each receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2022 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments, and will be honored at the 64th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas on Dec. 6, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports.
 
Greenhagen (3.85 GPA, Business Admin.), the 2020-21 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, is a three-time All-Patriot League selection and a 2020-21 All-America honoree in addition to being a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. He graduated with a degree in business administration (finance) with a minor in business law and ethics and is currently working on his master’s degree in business analytics. Greenhagen is the first Fordham football student-athlete to be selected as a finalist for the Campbell Trophy.
 
Oliver (3.95 GPA, Chemistry & Spanish) was a Campbell Trophy semifinalist last season and the 2021 Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The two-time All-League running back is also a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. Greenhagen and Oliver are among the 14 student-athletes in Patriot League football history to earn Academic All-League honors three times. Oliver was a Doris Robinson Award Finalist and is the sixth NFF National Scholar-Athlete, and its first since 1990.
