LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Navy women’s and men’s cross country teams swept the Patriot League Cross Country Championships for the second-consecutive season when competition concluded at the Bucknell University Cross Country Course on Saturday morning. Navy junior Emily Boutin and Army West Point senior Garrett Gough captured the women’s and men’s individual titles, respectively.
Boutin earned the individual crown and Patriot League Women’s Outstanding Performer of the Meet honors with a 5,950-meter time of 20:36.8. She led five Mids in picking up All-Patriot League honors to help Navy to their sixth women’s title in program history.
Gough won the men’s race to collect Patriot League Men’s Outstanding Performer of the Meet honors by finishing the 8,050-meter course in 24.27.21. Gough, a three-time all-League honoree and the 2019 Patriot League Rookie of the Meet, helped the Black Knights to a second-place team finish.
Army West Point freshman Charlotte Richman finished third with a time of 20:43.7 to receive Patriot League Women’s Rookie of the Meet honors. Boston University freshman Freddy Collins claimed Patriot League Men’s Rookie of the Meet by finishing 13th in a time of 25:09.4.
Navy women’s coach Kim Lewnes was voted Patriot League Women’s Coach of the Year for the second straight season after leading the program to its sixth title. Midshipmen men’s coach Aaron Lanzel also collected his second-consecutive Patriot League Men’s Coach of the Year award. He guided the Mids to their 10th Patriot League cross country title.

WOMEN’S 6K Championship Recap
The Navy women’s cross country team won its second straight Patriot League title and second in a row with 38 points. Army West Point (57) and Boston University (70) placed second and third, respectively. The Mids placed five student-athletes in the top 14, led by junior Emily Boutin (20:36.8), who became the fifth Navy woman to win the individual title and the first since Kelley Robinson in 2015. Classmate Eleanor Abraham (21:20.1) also received First Team All-Patriot League honors with a seventh-place finish. Freshman Sophie Compton (21:29.5), senior Elizabeth Sullivan (21:30.6) and freshman Mia-Claire Kezal (21:30.9) crossed in ninth through 11th.
Army West Point secured a second-place finish behind Patriot League Rookie of the Meet Charlotte Richman (20:43.7), who finished third, and junior Georgia Jones (21:10.9), the defending champion, who placed fifth.
Boston University sophomore Daisy Liljegren crossed the finish line second with a time of 20:42.9, while senior Meghan Convery (21:24.0), and freshmen Vera Sjoberg (21:34.2) both made the second team by finishing eighth and 14th, respectively.
Lehigh (101) posted a fourth-place team finish, while host Bucknell (110) placed fifth, as sophomore Keeley Misutka (21:33.9) and senior Mia Bellucci (21:34.2) earned second-team all-League honors by placing 12th and 13th, respectively. American (206) edged Holy Cross (209), who finished seventh behind two-time first-team all-League finisher Eve Feuerbach (21:03.4). Lafayette (212), Colgate (266) and Loyola Maryland (279) completed the women’s final standings.

Army West Point Garrett Gough claimed his first Patriot League men’s crown and earned All-League honors for the third time with an 8,050-meter time of 24:27.1, but Navy had the next three finishers with junior Samuel Keeny (24:35.1), senior Alexander Rizzo (24:44.2) and senior Brett Brady (24:46.0) to win their 11th team title with 32 points. Mids’ senior Garrison Clark also made the All-Patriot League First-Team with a sixth-place finish. Black Knights’ senior Matthew Porter (24:46.1) joined Gough on the all-League first-team with a fifth-place finish to help Army West Point accumulated 50 points for a second-place finish.
Boston University finished third in the team standings with 68 points, as junior Matt Mason (25:03:9) earned first-team all-League honors with a seventh-place finish. Senior teammate Foster Malleck (25:05.5) placed ninth to make the second team, along with Patriot League Rookie of the Meet Freddy Collins (25:09.4), who finished 13th. Bucknell (127) finished fourth on their home course. American (133) earned a fifth-place team finish behind the eight-place finish from junior Russell Sullivan (25:04.2). Lehigh (145) finished sixth, with senior Tyler French (25:11.2) leading the way in 14th place to make the second team. Lafayette (214) finished seventh, with senior Robert Oehrlein (25:06.7) claiming all-League honors for the second straight season with an 11th-place finish. Loyola Maryland (229), Holy Cross (266) and Colgate (299) rounded out the men’s final standings.
