Patriot League GEICO Football Players of the Week Announced (10.3.22)

Fordham’s DeMorat and Lafayette’s Ntantang claim offensive and defensive player of the week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fordham, Lafayette, Holy Cross and Lehigh split the four Patriot League GEICO weekly football awards when the League office announced the honors on Monday.
 
Fordham senior quarterback Tim DeMorat captured Patriot League Football GEICO Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after throwing four touchdown passes and rushing for another score in the Rams’ 59-38 victory over Georgetown.  
 
Lafayette junior cornerback A.T. Ntantang earned Patriot League Football GEICO Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording two interceptions, including an 80-yard return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of the Leopards’ 24-14 victory at Bucknell.  
 
Holy Cross senior placekicker Derek Ng was voted Patriot League GEICO Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time this season after totaling 12 points in a 30-21 win at Harvard. Ng also passed Gordie Lockbaum to become the Crusaders’ career points leader.  
 
Lehigh freshman wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel was named Patriot League GEICO Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week after leading the Mountain Hawks with 82 yards on three catches.  
 
Colgate sophomore placekicker Spencer Biscoe and senior defensive back Mikey Jarmolowich, Fordham junior placekicker Brandon Peskin, Georgetown sophomore linebacker Ibri Harrell and graduate student wide receiver Joshua Tomas, Holy Cross junior wide receiver Jalen Coker and senior cornerback Devin Haskins and Lehigh junior linebacker Mike DeNucci all received honorable mentions for their performances on Saturday. 
 
The Patriot League football players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tim DeMorat, Fordham, Sr., QB, Merritt Island, Fla./Viera
*DeMorat completed 21-of-35 passes for 348 yards and four touchdown passes, in addition to rushing for a touchdown.
*He completed his touchdown passes to four different receivers and connected with seven different receivers on the day.
*Led the Rams back from a 21-7 first-quarter deficit with three touchdown passes in the second quarter.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
A.T. Ntantang, Lafayette, Jr., CB, Lawrenceville, Ga./McDonogh
*Ntantang recorded his first two interceptions of his career for a combined 85 return yards, in addition to making three tackles and breaking up another pass in Lafayette’s 24-14 win over Bucknell.
*He returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help seal the Leopards’ victory.
*His first collegiate interception came in the third quarter, setting up a Lafayette touchdown three plays later.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Derek Ng, Holy Cross, Sr., PK, Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman
*Ng made three field goals and went 3-for-3 on PATs to help Holy Cross defeat Harvard, 30-21, on Saturday.
*He booted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter, including a 49-yarder with 1:24 remaining in the game to lift Holy Cross to its first win at Harvard Stadium since 2000.
*With 12 points against the Crimson, Ng’s 271 career points surpassed Gordie Lockbaum’s program record for career points of 263.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Geoffrey Jamiel, Lehigh, Fr., WR, West Yarmouth, Mass./Deerfield Academy
*Jamiel recorded a career-high 82 receiving yards on three receptions in Lehigh’s loss against Monmouth.  
*The freshman receiver’s 42-yard reception from freshman QB Brayten Silbor moved the ball into Monmouth territory during Lehigh’s lone scoring drive.
*He finished with 54 yards after the catch on his three receptions.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Mikey Jarmolowich, Colgate, Sr., DB, Summit, N.J./Delbarton
*Jarmolowich returned a fumble 48 yards for a touchdown in Colgate’s loss against Cornell. He also had eight tackles and an interception against the Big Red.
 
Spencer Biscoe, Colgate, So., PK, Landisville, Pa./Hempfield
*Biscoe connected on 3-of-4 field-goal attempts and both of his PAT attempts in Colgate’s loss against Cornell. The sophomore placekicker hit from 42 yards and two from 31 yards.
 
Brandon Peskin, Fordham, Jr., PK, Melville, N.Y./Half Hollows Hills East
*Peskin connected on a 29-yard field goal and went 8-for-8 on PATs in Fordham’s 59-38 victory over Georgetown.
 
Ibri Harrell, Georgetown, So., LB, Hampton, Va./Phoebus
*Harrell recorded a career-best 12 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss of 17 yards against No. 20 Fordham. He also recorded a career-high 2.0 sacks for a loss of 16 yards.
 
Joshua Tomas, Georgetown, Gr., WR, University Park, Ill./Crete-Monee
*Tomas caught 10 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Georgetown’s loss at Fordham. He became the fifth player in Hoya history to eclipse 2,000 receiving yards, moving into fourth place in program history.
 
Jalen Coker, Holy Cross, Jr., WR, Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls
*Coker finished with a career-high 166 receiving yards and one touchdown on 10 receptions in Holy Cross’s 30-21 victory at Harvard. He has caught at least one touchdown pass in each of the Crusaders’ five games this season.
 
Devin Haskins, Holy Cross, Sr., CB, Celina, Texas/Prosper
*Haskins matched a career-best with seven tackles, all solo, and blocked a punt for the second-consecutive week to help the Crusaders to a 30-21 victory over Harvard.
 
Mike DeNucci, Lehigh, Jr., LB, Denville, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional
*DeNucci finished with a game-high 11 tackles, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble in a loss against Monmouth. His strip-sack in the fourth quarter was Lehigh’s second takeaway of the game.
