BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The No. 4 Navy Midshipmen defeated No. 6 American, 1-0, in the 2022 Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship game to earn their second Patriot League title.
The win also marks the initial Patriot League Championship title under head coach Tim O’Donohue, and the first for Navy since 2013.
Navy junior defender Zach Wagner was awarded Tournament MVP honors while teammates junior midfielder Cristian Coelho, sophomore goalkeeper Pierce Holbrook and freshman forward A.J. Schuetz joined Wagner on the all-tournament team.
American senior midfielder Mattias Cooper, junior midfielder Evan Schweickert, and junior defender Cooper Nunn were also named to the all-tournament squad.
Army West Point sophomore forward Gage Guerra and junior midfielder Cooper Warren and Boston University senior goalkeeper Francesco Montali and senior midfielder Colin Innes were all placed on the all-tournament team as well.
The Mids earned the Patriot League automatic qualifying bid to the 2022 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship. They will learn their first-round opponent when the NCAA Selection Show takes place on Monday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. ET.

Annapolis, Md. – The Navy Midshipmen were crowned champions as they defeated No. 6 American, 1-0, in the 2022 Patriot League Men’s Soccer Title game on Saturday night in Annapolis, Md.
* Navy freshman forward A.J. Schuetz scored the lone goal for the Mids in the 82nd minute off an assist from sophomore defender Charlie Kriel.
* Sophomore goalkeeper Pierce Holbrook made three saves for Navy.
* Freshman Matthew Tibbetts collected two saves in goal for American.
* As a team, the Eagles held Navy to four shots.
