Crusaders close regular-season undefeated, DeMorat breaks more records, Lafayette and Bucknell earn wins

EASTON, Pa. – No. 6/6 Holy Cross concluded the regular season with a 47-10 victory over Georgetown to capture their fourth-consecutive outright Patriot League title, a League record. Head coach Bob Chesney and the Crusaders improved to 11-0, becoming the first League team to finish the regular season undefeated since Colgate in 2003. 
 
No. 14/21 Fordham earned a 52-38 victory over Colgate, while senior quarterback Tim DeMorat broke three Patriot League records during the regular-season finale. DeMorat’s 454 passing yards against Colgate gives him 4,561 this season, passing former Ram Michael Nebrich, who threw for 4,380 in 2013, for the League’s single-season passing yards record. His six touchdown passes against the Raiders gave him 120 career passing touchdowns, breaking Holy Cross All-American Dominic Randolph’s previous record of 117. DeMorat is also responsible for 137 touchdowns during his career in the Bronx, passing Randolph’s previous record of 133. DeMorat also has the League’s single-season records for touchdowns responsible for (58) and touchdown passes (53).
 
The Crusaders and Rams will learn their postseason fate when the 24-team FCS Championship field is announced during the 2022 FCS Football Championship Selection Show, beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

WASHINGTON – Junior quarterback Matthew Sluka threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns to lead Holy Cross to a 47-10 victory over Georgetown at Cooper Field on Saturday to earn a record fourth-consecutive outright Patriot League title.
*Sluka completed 12-of-15 passes for 301 yards and three scores while rushing for a team-high 77 yards on 10 carries to help the Crusaders win their 16th straight League victory.
*Sophomore running back Jordan Fuller rushed for three touchdowns for the second time this season while totaling 76 yards on 18 carries. Senior wide receivers Ayir Asante and Spencer Gilliam both found the end zone, finishing with 137 and 64 receiving yards, respectively.
*Senior linebacker Liam Anderson led Holy Cross with nine tackles, one sack and a forced fumble, and senior defensive lineman Dan Kuznetsov added three tackles, 2.0 TFLs, one sack and a fumble recovery.
*Georgetown junior quarterback Pierce Holley completed 29-of-48 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown pass to graduate student wide receiver Joshua Tomas. Tomas finished with 12 receptions for 82 yards and the score.
*Sophomore linebacker Myles Jones led the Hoyas with seven tackles, and graduate student defensive lineman Quincy Chinwuko added two sacks.

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette senior linebacker Billy Shaeffer was named MVP of the 158th playing of The Rivalry, as his 50-yard interception for a touchdown proved to be the difference in the Leopards’ 14-11 victory over Lehigh at Fisher Stadium.
*Shaeffer added eight tackles and a fumble recovery for a Lafayette defense that kept Lehigh out of the end zone until the fourth quarter.
*Leopards’ freshman running back Jamar Curtis rushed for 108 yards on 10 carries, including a 71-yard score. The run was the Leopards’ longest from scrimmage this season, opening the scoring at the 7:59 mark in the first quarter.
*Shaeffer’s 50-yard interception return gave Lafayette an insurmountable 14-0 lead 57 seconds later.
*The Mountain Hawks got on the scoreboard with 4:57 remaining in the first half when senior placekicker Dylan Van Dusen connected on a 27-yard field goal.
*Lehigh closed the deficit to five points early in the fourth quarter when junior wide receiver Eric Johnson made a one-handed catch in the end zone on junior quarterback Dante Perri’s pass, making the score 14-9.  
*Late in the fourth quarter, Lehigh drove to the Lafayette 15-yard line, but senior defensive end Malik Hamm batted down Perri’s fourth-down pass attempt to force a turnover on downs.
*The Leopards ran out of the back of the end zone to take a safety on the ensuing drive, giving Lehigh the ball at their 24-yard line with 14 seconds left, but Hamm recorded a sack as time expired to seal Lafayette’s win.
*Perri finished with 343 passing yards and a score on 29-of-57 passing.
*Johnson caught seven passes for 108 yards and the touchdown, while freshman wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel added 91 yards on seven receptions.
*Lehigh senior defensive back TyGee Leach finished with seven tackles and 3.0 TFLs.
*Lafayette sophomore defensive back Saiku White recorded a game-high 10 tackles.

BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham senior quarterback Tim DeMorat broke three Patriot League records on an afternoon where he finished with 454 yards and six scores to lead the Rams to a 52-38 victory over Colgate at Jack Coffey Field.
*DeMorat’s six touchdown passes give him 120 for his career, surpassing Holy Cross All-American Dominic Randolph’s previous record of 117. He also moved past Randolph in career touchdowns responsible for, moving to 137, four more than the previous record of 133. *Rams’ senior running back Trey Sneed rushed for a Patriot League season-high 230 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries. He also caught a touchdown pass.
*Senior wide receiver Dequece Carter caught recorded career-highs of 14 receptions for 218 yards with touchdown receptions of 21 and 32 yards.
*Senior wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis also caught a pair of touchdown passes on five catches for 70 yards. Senior wide receiver MJ Wright added six catches for 95 yards and a score.
*Sophomore linebacker James Conway led the Rams with 13 tackles and a forced fumble, while freshman defensive lineman Sam Buerkle posted a career-high 3.0 sacks.
*Graduate student defensive back Natani Drati had 11 tackles, while linebacker Ryan Greenhagen added 10 tackles and an interception.
*Colgate sophomore quarterback Michael Brescia completed 12-of-27 passes for 251 yards, an interception and two touchdown passes. He also rushed for 85 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown run.
*Raiders’ freshman wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders caught five passes for 99 yards and a touchdown, while junior running back Max Hurleman caught two passes for 78 yards and a score.
*Senior linebacker J.C. Gaughan registered a game-high 14 tackles and 2.0 TFLs. Senior defensive back Mikey Jarmolowich added 13 tackles and a forced fumble.
*Freshman defensive back Taitwoine Sanders and senior defensive back Jackson Price recorded interceptions for the Colgate defense.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore running back Rushawn Baker scored two of Bucknell’s three second-half touchdowns to lead the Bison to a 24-13 victory over Marist on Saturday.
*Baker rushed for a career-high 120 yards on 19 carries while catching a touchdown pass in the third quarter and rushing for one in the fourth.
*Junior quarterback Nick Semptimphelter completed 11-of-19 passes for 93 yards with an interception and the touchdown pass to Baker. His 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put Bucknell in front, 17-13.
*Bucknell junior running back Coleman Bennett added 80 rushing yards on 16 carries, as the Bison offense rushed for a season-high 245 yards.
*Senior safety Brent Jackson finished with eight tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and a pass breakup, while senior linebacker Blake Leake posted nine tackles and two pass breakups.
*Sophomore defensive back Ethan Robinson added four tackles, 2.0 TFLs, one sack and a pass breakup.
