BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Top-seed Boston University (10-8, 5-1 PL) and No. 3 Lehigh (12-7, 4-2 PL) will play for the Patriot League Field Hockey Championship Game at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex on Saturday.
The Terriers defeated No. 4 Bucknell (5-13, 3-3 PL), 1-0, in the first semifinal of the day behind a goal from Patriot League Rookie of the Year Martu Coulo and a shutout from senior goalkeeper Caroline Kelly. Boston University and head coach Sally Starr made the League championship game for the eighth time and will be aiming for their fifth title since joining the Patriot League in 2013
The Mountain Hawks advanced past No. 2 American (9-7, 4-2 PL), 2-1, after Lehigh senior midfielder Julia Gatelein converted in the ninth round of the shootout. Head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer guided the Mountain Hawks to its first championship game appearance since 1996 and will be looking for the program’s second League title.
The 2022 Patriot League Field Hockey Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5. Coverage on ESPN+ will be available beginning at 11 a.m.

WASHINGTON – Boston University freshman Martu Coulo scored at the 46:45 mark in the fourth quarter to lift the top-seeded Terriers to a 1-0 victory over No. 4 Bucknell to advance to Saturday’s championship game.
*Coulo, the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, converted on an assist from sophomore back Payton Anderson, the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, on a penalty corner for the game’s lone goal.
*Boston University senior goalkeeper Caroline Kelly made two saves in a shutout.
*Bucknell sophomore goalkeeper Nora Frederick made four saves and allowed one goal in the loss.
*The Terriers controlled the ball throughout the game, holding an 11-3 advantage on shots, while Boston U’s defense held the Bison to two shots on goal.

*Lehigh senior goalkeeper Maddie Kahn made eight saves and allowed one goal through two overtime frames before stopping eight shots in the shootout
*American junior goalkeeper Bryn Underwood recorded three saves, allowing one goal, and made seven stops through the nine-round shootout.
*Mountain Hawks’ senior midfielder Sarah Bonthuis found the back of the cage at the 32:35 mark in the third quarter to break the scoreless tie.
*The Eagles answered at the 47:07 mark in the fourth quarter as junior defender Emily Horace tipped in the feed from senior defender Charllene Boshoff on the penalty corner.
