BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy collected three of the five Patriot League women’s lacrosse weekly awards when the League office announced the first set of 2022 season honors on Monday. Bucknell collected two accolades.
Navy sophomore Jo Torres was named Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week after making 11 saves in the Mids’ 18-10 victory over Pac-12 opponent Cal. Mids’ senior defender Alexis Bell was named defensive player of the week after picking up two ground balls and causing one turnover in the win. Freshman attacker Jaimeson Meyer received rookie of the week after scoring a team-high three goals in her collegiate debut against the Bears.
Bucknell senior attacker Laurel McHale was named Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Attacker of the Week after tallying six points on four goals and two assists against Canisius. Bison sophomore Tatumn Kohlbrenner claimed midfielder of the week honors after finishing with five points on four goals and one assist, along with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
American graduate student attack Emma Vinall, Colgate junior midfielder Cara O’Reilly, Holy Cross sophomore midfielder Lauren Drillock, Navy senior midfielder Kasey Dietzel and Navy senior attack Bobbie Haney received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS IN THE POLLS
Defending champion and preseason favorite Loyola Maryland was ranked ninth in this week’s ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Top-25 Poll, released on Monday morning. Navy is receiving votes in the poll after its season-opening victory over Cal.
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
Laurel McHale, Bucknell, Sr., Attacker, Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards
*McHale set career highs with four goals and two assists in Bucknell’s season-opening loss against Canisius.
*The Bernardsville, N.J. native scored a pair of early goals to help build a three-goal lead. In the third quarter, she had one assist and one goal to put the Bison back in front, then scored her final goal to start a 3-0 run before time ran out on their comeback attempt.
*The senior attacker’s four goals came on six shots. She also added two draw controls.
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Tatumn Kohlbrenner, Bucknell, So., Midfielder, East Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers
*Kohlbrenner’s four goals against Canisius doubled her total from last season. She also dished out one assist for five points.
*She added three caused turnovers, three draw controls and two ground balls against the Griffs.
*Kohlbrenner scored two goals and had one assist in the final 4:29 to lead the Bison’s comeback attempt.

*Bell recorded two ground balls and one caused turnover to anchor Navy’s defense in an 18-10 victory over Pac-12 opponent Cal.
*She held Cal’s 2021 points leader Nikki Zaccaro without a point while helping the Mids hold the Bears to just 15 shots, 10 on goal, in the second half.
*Navy held Cal to four goals after halftime.
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

*Torres earned her first win of the season by making 11 saves in Navy’s 18-10 victory against Cal in the Mids’ season opener at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium.
*She finished one save short of her career-high while recording the third double-digit save game of her career.
*Torres and the Mids’ defense held the Bears to two or fewer goals in three of the four quarters.

Jaimeson Meyer, Navy, Fr., Attack, Sandy, Utah/The Waterford School
*Meyer scored a team-high three goals, recording a hat trick in her first collegiate game in Navy’s 18-10 win over Cal on Friday.
*She scored her first goal late in the third quarter and added her final two goals during a 5-1 game-ending run to help secure the Mids’ season-opening victory.
*The freshman attacker scored her three goals on four shots.

*Vinall recorded a team-high five points in American’s season-opening loss at Georgetown. The Patriot League’s active goals leader scored four goals to lead the Eagles’ offense. She also had a team-high eight draw controls and picked up two ground balls.

*O’Reilly matched career-highs with three goals and five ground balls while posting a career-high three caused turnovers in a season-opening loss against Vermont. She also finished with six draw controls to help the Raiders hold a 21-7 advantage on the draw.
Lauren Drillock, Holy Cross, So., Midfielder, Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville
*Drillock scored a team-high two goals to go with one ground ball and one caused turnover in the Crusaders’ season-opening loss against Fairfield.
Kasey Dietzel, Navy, Sr., Midfielder, Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South
*Dietzel matched a team-high with four points on two goals and two assists to help Navy defeat Cal, 18-10. She added two ground balls and two draw controls in the win.
Bobbie Haney, Navy, Sr., Attack, Woodbine, Md./Glenelg Country School
*Haney recorded four points with two goals and two assists in her first collegiate start to help Navy defeat Cal, 18-10.
